Thanksgiving Pie and Monday Deals
I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving holiday weekend and ate lots of pie and other treats. This year I made cherry pie - just to be different!
Our Thanksgiving was nice but my husband caught a bad cold last week and I have been fending the germs off with Airborne and soup while I take care of him! So I haven't been out to the stores for the sales. Fortunately there are a lot of deals to be found shopping online. I thought I'd share a few of the places I have been shopping and let you all know about some great offers and some free digital items too. (Some of the links below are affiliate links and if you shop using my links I may make a small commission - your price remains the same. I appreciate your support - thanks!)
There are fabulous deals still available on the Cricut site (links to Cricut are affiliate links). There are special prices and bundles for Explore machines. I just got my new Explore Air2 set up to start testing it and the increased speed for cutting paper and writing is really great. I will be posting a review of the new machine soon - I want to do some more testing cutting different materials first.
Hundreds of cartridges/image sets are $14.99 or less.
Supplies and accessories are up to 1/2 off and some clearance items are just $1!
There is a new special for Cyber Monday - if you spend $50 or more, you will get a credit for $15 to apply to digital purchases.
Cricut is also offering free shipping to the USA and Canada with the code FREESHIPNOV.
If you are a subscriber to Cricut Access you will get an additional 10% off and you can also get 15% off and free FedEx home delivery shipping in the US by using the code "JOY."
The Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals on Craftsy end tonight (Monday, November 28th) at 11:59 p.m. Mountain time. Classes are just $17.99 or less (many of the papercrafting classes are $13.99) and supplies are up to 70% off. Click HERE to shop (affiliate link).
If you love digital scrapping and collect digital supplies, Janet Bodet Carr (Little Feet Digital Designs) has been sharing a wonderful set of papers and embellishments for fans who join her Facebook page, "Little Feet Footprints Club" HERE (say hi to her from me!) Pictured above are just some of the daily freebies. Don't miss out - the 30 days of freebies will expire on December 1st.
SVG Cuts has a special deal - take 20% off with the code CYBERMONDAY. These files are easily imported into Design Space to cut with the Cricut Explore (affiliate links).
This set of Snowed-In Gift Bags is the latest free gift offer at SVGCuts. Just add it to your bag, spend $9.98 or more, and type FREEGIFT in the coupon code field at checkout. This free gift is available until December 3 but the 20% off deal ends November 28th - today!
Tammy Tutterow just posted a lovely coloring page to share on her blog (a little snip of the page can be seen above). Tammy is an extremely talented designer and has her own line of stamps, dies and embossing folders with Spellbinders. You can find the coloring page on her blog HERE and she has shared many coloring pages for personal use (you'll find a link to these in her blog post). Be sure to say thanks- she is very generous to share these pages!
Close to my Heart is also offering a special Cyber Monday deal - if you spend $30 or more on regular retail price items you can get 30% off the price of the exclusive Cricut cartridges. You can read more about the deals on my friend Joy Tracey's blog Obsessed with Scrapbooking and shop on Joy's CTMH site HERE. This deal ends at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time November 28th(tonight!).
I posted photo of my lattice pie crust cutter that I used to make my cherry pie for our family Thanksgiving dessert buffet on Facebook and several people have asked me where to get one. I have had mine for years but I think they are still readily available in specialty kitchen shops.
I also found several styles of cutters on Amazon and have linked to a similar one above that is very inexpensive and has free Prime shipping if you have Prime (affiliate link).
November is nearly over and Christmas is less than four weeks away - how did that happen! I haven't put up any trees yet but I hope to get some of them up this week. Here is a little peek at the Santa tree from last year. I spent a lot of time redoing the lights (they had finally gone bad so I had to take off the original lights) but this year I should just have to carry it up the stairs from our storage room.
Have a happy Monday and let me know in the comments if you find some great deals!

New for November
Happy November! It's been an exciting week with Halloween on Monday, an amazing 7th game of the World Series last night, and, on a more personal note, the arrival of my new Cricut Explore Air2!
The new machine adds a "fast mode" for cutting some materials up to two times as fast. I am not usually in that big of a hurry and I don't do a lot of mass production but there was something about the pretty ivory and gold Anna Griffin version that just was calling my name when the new machines were launched on HSN at the beginning of October. I tried to resist but ended up ordering late in the day so I was on "extended delivery" with the arrival date projected at November 4th. So I was excited to see an earlier date when I checked my order status!
I spent a couple of hours sweeping leaves and acorns from our very long driveway so I could keep a sharp eye out for the UPS truck. I think they are gearing up for holiday deliveries because there were two men on the truck. They were quite curious about what was in the box and why I was so excited for it to arrive...
I will spend the next few days putting this new machine through some comparisons with my Explore Air to see if I made the right decision. I know it will be pretty and that it will match my Anna Griffin Cuttlebug machine. With Christmas coming, I will be doing more multiples of projects so the increased speed should be helpful.
We had a couple of beautiful days to start the month but today it is rainy. Here are a few photos of the gorgeous leaves and bright blue sky and some of the remaining flowers in our garden.
I hope you had a good time on Halloween. We had around 30 trick-or-treaters here and it was fun to see their costumes.
Our new house is set at a funny angle, with the front door at the "back" of the house as you approach it, so we had the trick-or-treaters come to the sliding door from the deck to the kitchen. I didn't do a lot of decorating this year but did have lights to lead the way to the candy!
How many costumed visitors did you have this year?

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter! I hope you were able to spend time with family and friends. We had a quick trip to California last week and it was great to see our little granddaughter (and her parents!).
We returned to New Hampshire in time for Easter at home. It's hard having family on two coasts since you can't be in two places at the same time. We loved this photo of our little bunny that we received today!
Before we left I was working on a few new designs - here is a sneak peek. I will have more details to share soon.

Bunny Candy Holder (updated file for Cricut Design Space)
photo from 2009 original bunny candy holder |
I originally designed these bunny candy holders back in 2009 using the old Cricut Design Studio program. You can see the original post and directions HERE.
In 2014, I updated the project and shared files for new Cricut Craftroom and Design Space versions. You can find that post HERE.
I have created a new file for use with Cricut Design Space and the Cricut Explore machines that will do the scoring and also make the small extra cuts that are needed to assemble the bunnies.
All you will need to do is fold on the scored lines and then add strong adhesive (I use ScorTape) to make the box shape.
Add the noses and decorate as you please. You can draw in the mouth and whiskers on the cut lines or add thin strips of paper for whiskers.
For one of my test cuts, I also added some pearl gems for the nose and eyes.
Have fun with these - they can be used for any sort of candy - I found that the Ghirardelli Squares are a great fit!
Here is the link for the newest version in Design Space - I think it is great that the machine now does almost everything for you. The hardest part will be choosing the paper and decorations!
https://us.cricut.com/design/#/canvas/38076960
You will need to own the Doodlecharms cartridge or purchase this image from that cartridge in order to cut this file - the cartridge and image are not included in Cricut Access. (links to Cricut in this post are affiliate links which means I may be paid a commission if you purchase something after clicking on the link - your price stays the same. I appreciate your support).
Our plans for this week have been unexpectedly altered due to the snowstorms in Colorado. I hope any of you who are affected by these storms are safe and warm!
Happy Easter!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
On March 17 everyone is a little bit Irish - and in the Boston area today is a big holiday! I hope you have fun if you are celebrating today.
Even if you are not Irish, you will appreciate this lucky sale on Cricut cartridges. There are nearly 80 cartridges available for $9.99 - click HERE to see all of the cartridges available. (links to Cricut in this post are affiliate links which means I may be paid a commission if you purchase something after clicking on the link - your price stays the same. I appreciate your support).
If you have Cricut Access you automatically receive 10% off and you can use the code CRAZY10 to save an additional 10% (and get free shipping on the Fed Ex Home Delivery or Economy options within the continental US if you choose physical cartridges). You can also use the code MARCHMADNESS to get free shipping on any order (same restrictions).
Most of the cartridges in the $9.99 sale are included in Cricut Access but there are some great "oldies but goodies" in the sale that are not included. I already own all of these and they are some of my favorites - particularly Graphically Speaking, Doodlecharms and Teardrop.
These images below are linked to the cartridges in the $9.99 sale that are not part of Cricut Access. Even if you do have Cricut Access, you might want to pick up a few of the many other cartridges in the sale in case you choose not to renew the Cricut Access or for use in one of your older Cricut machines. Click HERE to see all of the cartridges.
There may still be some March Madness Mystery boxes left - the third box became available this week and they usually sell out quickly.
This box is full of Cuttlebug folders - if you don't have many folders you can really increase your collection with this deal! Click HERE to shop for the Mystery Box.
If you are curious about the image at the top of this post, you can see the original blog post about how I created this file from a Dover image four years ago HERE. I made this file for the Silhouette machine a few years before the Explore was released. I need to redo some of my files as SVGs now that I can cut my own designs with the Explore.

Easter Egg Card (file to share)
Easter is early this year so today I have another Easter card to share. I designed the egg on the front of this card using only the free basic shapes in Cricut Design Space.
It is taking longer than I ever imagined it could to get our house fully settled. Most of the rooms are done but there is still a fair bit of chaos in the storage areas and my craft studio.
While I was sorting through a box of adhesives, I found some Action Wobbles and this gave me the idea to make a card with an Easter Egg that moves.
If you have never seen one of these in motion, it is a bit difficult to imagine how they work - so I made a quick little video of the egg in motion.
The Action Wobble is clearly labelled so you know which side to attach to your image and which side is the base to be attached to your card. I got my Wobbles at a small local store, you can also find them online.
The "egg" is an oval with four layers. I cut them from Core'dinations Gemstone cardstock which has a beautiful pearly sheen.
This screen shot shows the card design. I add rectangles to represent the card base and layer just to help visualize the card. In most cases, I cut these with a trimmer to use my cardstock more efficiently.
For the sentiments, I used this stamp set that comes with the "Artfully Sent" Close To My Heart Cricut cartridge. There are lots of combinations for both the front and inside a card. If you want more information about this cartridge you can find it on my friend Joy's CTMH website HERE.
I stamped the "Happy Easter" on the front card layer with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I wasn't happy with the result - the sentiment is tiny and the texture of the cardstock (and also some excess pressure on the stamp) made it a bit difficult to read. So I stamped it again on a strip of the reverse side of the cardstock, cut a small flag end and added a gem.
It just wasn't my day for stamping - I also managed to get a few ink spots on the inside of the card when I stamped the second sentiment.
Fortunately, I had the center cuts from the yellow and purple egg layers sitting on my table and I was able to use these to cover the smudges. I actually like the inside of the card better with this extra decoration - sometimes mistakes lead you to improve on your original plan!
I used my old Creative Memories "fancy" corner rounder on the green card layer. The second version of "Happy Easter" is adhered directly over the messy original embossing.
I think this card would be fun to use for an Easter Egg Hunt invitation. You could also make a variation with a detachable egg ready to hang as an ornament on a branch or in a window.
You can get many variations of the egg by changing the colors of the four layers. I chose pastels for this card but more dramatic combinations would be interesting too.
If you'd like to try making this card, you can find the Cricut Design Space file HERE. I'd love to see what you make if you use the file.
