Scrapbook Outside the Pocket - You Could Win a Free Class!

http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/scrapbooking-outside-the-pocket.php

If you have gotten caught up in the pocket scrapbooking trend you may have lots of pocket sized papers that didn't make it into a book - what do you do with those?

If you are like me, you may not have created a pocket scrapbook (yet) but you may be hopelessly attracted to 12 x 12 paper meant to be cut up into pocket pieces - like these...(all of these papers are just sitting in my craft room waiting for something to happen to them!)

Carta Bella  It's A Celebration  Alisha Gordon

Bo Bunny   Serenade

My Mind's Eye  Collectable Jen Allyson

I have occasionally cut these papers up for cards but that doesn't make much of a dent in the stash!  Would you like to put some of your pocket page papers to better use?

My very talented friend, Monica Bradford, has some great ways to use these supplies on standard scrapbook pages and for mini albums.  She is teaching a four week, online workshop at Big Picture Classes called Scrapbooking Outside the Pocket, starting on March 6th - that's Thursday!   The class is only $25 and includes weekly videos and handouts with examples and lots of inspiration, bonus handouts with extra tips and tricks, a message board to chat with classmates, a gallery to share your work, two live chats with Monica and more.

You can find out more about the class and see Monica's intro video on the Big Picture Classes site HERE.  Monica is a trained teacher with years of experience.  Her classes are well organized and she has  wonderful sense of humor - you will laugh a lot in her classes while you are learning.

Monica has generously offered to give a FREE SPOT in her class to one of my blog readers - I told you there would be some more fun giveaways now that the Blog Anniversary Celebration has ended.

I'll be taking this class so I hope that some of you will sign up to take it too.  The class starts Thursday so this will be a fast giveaway.  To enter, just leave a comment on this post and tell me if you have completed a pocket page, "Project Life," type of scrapbook or if you just have accumulated supplies to do one "someday."  There's no time like the present to start using your 3 x 4 and 4 x 6 cards in a project.

I will draw a winner late Tuesday night and announce the name Wednesday morning - so you will have time to get enrolled and be ready for the first class on Thursday.

Remember - to see all of the details about the class and register, visit the Big Picture Classes site HERE.

I am continuing to test various types of cuts on my new Cricut Explore machine.  I should have a full review sharing my opinions about the machine posted this week.  So far I have to say it is making a very favorable impression but there are a few places I see room for improvement.  I feel pretty confident that some of the concerns I have will be addressed in the near future as more and more feedback comes to the company from this first group of users.

Snow coming again - will this winter ever end?

  3. Diane and Monica -- thank you for offering this chance at a BP class. I am working on my first PL album and enjoying it. I have a few of the cardstock sheets, a box of PL cards and a lot of photos of one event. I haven't used the cards on a regular LO yet, but that's my plan. I want to use a few on greeting cards as well. llwyman[dot]310[at]gmail[dot]com

  6. I would love to win a spot in this class! I made a Project Life album in 2011 and 2013; I'm thinking about going back and making one for 2012 because I love the other two so much! I do have a lot of left over cards that need to be used. Thanks.

  7. No, I haven't done any pocket pages of any kind yet, but I did buy some journaling blocks .... I've been sooooo tempted, but I have so much for 12x12s (paper & albums). So, as of yet I haven't made the jump, but I'd love to see what Monica does with some of the pocket page papers, journaling blocks, etc.

  10. I have several pocket albums, but the only one I've made real progress on is last year's One Little Word project. I have an 8X8 that I'm collecting ideas for, and after just watching the "How to Get More YOU in Your scrapbooks" webinar, I may just be my own theme!

  11. I started a pocket page - daily scrapbook last year but quickly lost interest. With that said, I had a lot of the pocket page protectors and quite a few were not 4x6. We took a 27 states 19 days trip last year and those page are coming in really handy. I put my extra pictures of the places we visited i.e. Grand Canyon, Graceland, Bristol Speedway, Indy speedway, etc between my scrapped layouts. Worked great! I have even cut some pictures in half to fit the 3x4 slots or put embellishments or souvenirs in those. I have lots of the pocket cut outs so will use them when the right pictures come along. Thanks for the give away of the class, sounds very interesting.

  13. I have not made any pocket pages yet. I just ordered a Picture My Life set from Close To My Heart & was wondering what to do with so many cards when finished with the project that will be both pocket & regular pages. I'm sure Monica's class will help. What if I am not available to watch when these classes are aired?

  14. Hi! I have collected many (and I mean MANY) of the pocket cards, and have even more on my "to get" list, but have yet to do anything with them. I personally don't like the style of pocket scrapbooks, and intended to use them in traditional scrapbook pages. Companies keep coming out with such cute sets of the cards. I need to start using them!

  15. I am not a pocket scrapper, per se (I am doing my December Daily pocket style). I'm more like you that I've got a number of collections that have those 3x4 and 4x6 cards that I'd love more ideas of what to do with them! Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  20. I have just started my first Project Life Album - and I'm enjoying the challenge of trying to photograph the 'regular' stuff in my life, rather than just the 'events'. It's a fun process, but difficult still for me to remember.

  21. Hi Diane much like you I have not yet tried the whole pocket scrapbooking but would love to. This sounds intriguing kind of like faux pocket scrapbooking. Would love to win a spot

  22. Thank you for this opportunity to win. I have purchased all the fun stuff to do pocket pages, but I haven't yet. I am really intrigued with the idea of using traditional 12x12 along with the pocket pages along with digital. Why not blend all 3? I am a "grid" type scrapbooker, so think it should easy? I want to do my twin granddaughters' graduation albums this way. YIPES! It's March- I better get going!

  23. I have made pocket page albums for a coworker and some of my family for gifts. I cut title squares and other pocket pieces (frames and other cuts) but left it where they could put in there own pictures and journal entries.

  24. I have been doing a picture of the day album for the past five years. I used a Project Life kit one year, but recently I have been creating my own items using my Cricut.
