Fishy Valentine and some Paper Talk - Anniversary Celebration Day 5

Paper, paper, paper - most of the crafters that I know have a "thing" about paper.  There are many types of paper  that you can use and they are available at a variety of price points.  At some stage in your crafting, you will probably turn into a bit of a "paper snob." You might find that you are spending a lot of money on paper that you aren't willing to use because it is "too good!"

There are several ways to stretch your paper budget.  You can shop the sales at the big box craft stores but they don't carry every brand.  Some of my favorites tend to be sold only in independent craft stores or online.  I often have luck finding paper and cardstock in some of the discount stores such as Marshall's and Tuesday Morning.  They will sometimes have overstock or "last season" lines of paper at greatly reduced prices.

I have learned that you can find some great deals if you just pay attention to the "B" side of double sided papers.  Not all printed cardstock is double sided but when it is there is usually a front that has a very distinctive pattern and a back with a more subtle pattern that can be very useful.  I found a pack of this Pebbles cardstock - the Mermaid design from Party by Amy Locurto.  The design is set up for use in pocket page scrapbooks and is very girly and cute.

The "B" side is a simple green with white polka dots - this side could be used for all sorts of projects.  The extra strip along the bottom has identifying information printed on one side but the back side can be used for a border on a page or card.

If you don't want to do a pocket page book, you can still make good use of these 3 x 4 and 4 x 6 designs.  I often use them to make cards.  You might think that this is a hopelessly "girly" page but I managed to find a way to use one of the sections to make a "guy" valentine.

I thought this section was the least girly and I liked the sentiment for a valentine.  I made a typical 4.25 x 5.5 inch card and added a dark blue layer to represent the sea.  I knew that I had an embossing folder that could represent waves.

The Japanese Scales folder is part of a set of four.  I fits a card layer cut at 4 x 5.25 inches perfectly.  One thing to pay attention to when you are using embossing folders is whether the design is set up to emboss (the lines of the design are raised up) or deboss (the lines of the design are pushed down).

I believe that the side of the folder with the identifying information printed on it is meant to be the "top" side but there is no reason that you can't flip it over if you prefer the opposite effect.  The piece on the left of this photo is the back or bottom side but it was the side that I wanted to use for the ocean waves.  The right side or debossed version looks more like clouds to me.

The blue shimmery cardstock that I used was a little thin and the embossing actually broke the surface and allowed some white core to show.  I used some Broken China distress ink to cover the white spots and I flipped the pattern over since that looked more like a wave design to me.

When you are adding a layer to a white card and working on a white surface it is much easier to get it centered if you place a contrasting piece of cardstock under your card.  I decided to round just two opposite corners of the card to coordinate with the wavy look.

Next I added the 3 x 4 section, rounding the same two corners to coordinate with the card base.  I wasn't a fan of the little pink fish for this card so I looked for a way to make it blend in.

I still have a lot of items left from my time on the Design Team for Creative Charms and this little iridescent fish was the perfect size and color.  I added some narrow Scor-Tape to the back of the fish and stuck in right on top of the pink fish.  Poof! Not so girly anymore....!

The card was looking pretty good but it didn't necessarily seem like a valentine.  I decided some hearts were needed.

One heart punched from some glitter cardstock was good...

...but three hearts were better!  I added another large heart to the inside along with the hand written sentiment.

These packs of paper usually contain 25 of the same design and they are often marked at just a few dollars.  That is quite a bargain when you are used to paying about $1 a sheet at a specialty shop.  The "B" sides are often great for making mini-albums to serve as the background for your pages.

Today I added a couple of sheets of this cardstock to each box - one full sheet and one that is already cut into pieces.  It helps to have a good paper trimmer to get the cuts right along the lines in the design.  I use a lighted trimmer called a Cutterpillar Pro.  I have also included the same embossed blue layer, punched hearts and the little fish that you would need to replicate this card.  I didn't get to take a photo during the daylight hours so you'll see the additions to the boxes in tomorrow's post.

How do you play along in the blog celebration giveaway?

To enter for a chance to win one of the three boxes - see all of the details on the first blog celebration post HERE.  Then come back and get your comments in on this post.  Remember, if you sign up for the new newsletter (see the box at the top right of the page) I will be choosing one person from the subscribers as a box winner (you don't need to leave a comment here since I can see that list).

Today's question to answer in your comment is:

Tell me about your paper/cardstock shopping habits.  Where do you like to buy paper?  Are you a paper hoarder?  Do you have more paper than anyone could reasonably expect to use up?  Do you buy paper that you like whenever you see it or do you buy for particular projects?

Here is one more look at the card.  Do you think I successfully converted a "girly" paper into a "guy" card?  It is fun to stretch your imagination to find ways to use a bargain find.

I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day.  In our part of the country, next week is a school vacation week.  If you are taking a trip with your family have a great time.  We'll be here...in the snow...but I'll keep filling those boxes.

If you have friends who might be interested in my blog, the new newsletter and the chance to get some freebies (everyone loves freebies!) please tell them about my site so they can join the email list.  The more the merrier!

  1. I love what you do with this card. I have never seen this embossing folder before. I too like to go to Tuesday Morning and Marshall's to look for crafting bargains. I've even looked at places like Office Depot and such for crafting ideas.

  2. What a great MAN card. I buy paper at Marshals and TJMAX . Ww had a TM buy it didn't last long. BUT we now have a Hobby Lobby. I have also been known to buy individual card stock when I have a idea that I want to in multiples.

  3. I love paper. I usually buy stacks. I buy them whenever I see a stack I like. Sometimes I buy two stacks because I forget that I already have that one. That just means I really like that stack.

  4. Enjoyed your card and what a great manly card it makes. Also like your EF.
I normally buy my paper at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, WalMart and at time I will pick some up at Staples or Office Max
I'm not really a hoarder of paper. I like to use up most of what I have before restocking.
Have a wonderful and enjoyable weekend.

  6. Hi, I would say
I am a reasonably medium to high paper hoarder. I have paper from Creative Memories, Stampin' Up CTMH and some from all other big sellers such as Bo Bunny, etc. i order on-line and buy in stores. I love your blog and learn a lot from you.

  7. Love paper. I buy it when I see it on sale and I just stock up. If I am at a scrapbook store I will buy sheets that I love and you never know when you may need it. I buy paper for projects especially if it is for a trip and it relates to my activites or place I visited. I buy paper because it is beautiful. I buy paper! I will never use all I have.

  8. I'm a recovering paper hoarder. Trying to use what I have-- tons of stacks on clearance from Joann's, Michaels, Marshall's and TJMaxx. Always just bought what I like. Great card and good advice on the B side.

  10. Love your sweet non traditional card. When I first started scrapping & card making, I had no idea the world of paper was so diverse. I started off getting paper at Michael's, but soon the internet opened a whole new world for me. Almost all my papers are now on line purchases. Once in awhile I will find something at TJMax or Marshall's. You & I live in the same area, I've never been to Tuesday Morning, where is that? Some papers I love so much I will take out, admire but, I am terrified to cut. My collection has grown so much I tell myself..that's enough, till I fall in love with something new. After 4 grandsons, I have recently welcomed the first granddaughter, she is my perfect excuse to look at girly papers....I "fear" my collection will be growing still. I just love my paper collections, I guess I would say it is my addiction!

  11. Diane, I think you did a great job converting this card into a guy card! Some of your little touches are things I don't know I would have thought of! Thank you for sharing your creativity!

Usually I match my projects to my paper, I find I am happier with my end result and I use more of my paper this way then if I just buy and then try to find something to go with my projects. However, when I am at the speciality store, which most have closed ... so sad ... :( If I come across a line or paper that really appeals to me, I will buy it and usually buy more than I need. I always seem to overbuy in that way because I don't want to run out! LOL! There are some papers that are so unique that I know I won't see it again.

So, do I think I am a paper snob, no .... but then I probably am! LOL!

Have a great day and thank again for this great give-a-way celebrating your 6 years!

  12. Absolute adorable card. I am definitely a paper hoarder. I told my daughter just yesterday I had more paper than I would ever use. I buy it when it is on sale. Actually, it being on sale is an excuse to buy it. I believe it's an illness.

  13. I am definitely a paper hoarder. I usually buy it at national chain craft stores but I have also found good deals at Big Lots. I tend to buy paper when I see it, but have also bought it for specific projects.

  14. I can't resist paper.. I am always in stores looking at the paper first but will look for a good bargin as it does get expensive . I have different sections in my craft room , some specialty paper for my projects and then others for everyday use. I will shop for the perfect paper to match my scrapbook albums. I have 3 wedding albums to make this year , a baby album and a heritage album so I will be shopping for the best fit !! oh yes definitely a paper hoarder.

  15. I have some paper that I bought in the 90's. I use this mainly for envelopes. I like to go to a store and buy my paper. I really don't like to order. I do have more than I will ever use.
I'm finally learning to "use" my paper instead of saving it forever.

  16. I have that folder and never thought of using it that way..Very clever! As for paper, well...guess you can say I'm a paper nut. I buy packs and heaven forbid should I see something I like at an outlet store! I recently bought a beautiful stack and since the solids were on sales, I took advantage of matching up the right shades of pink, blue, yellow, green. Seems like no matter how much I have, I never have the right shade..Ok, so it's an excuse.:)

  17. I buy a lot of paper to make card kits for card making events. I try to find the best bargains and look for sales online. I also shop Tuesday Mornings and yard sales.

  18. Hi Diane,
Honestly I'm a party craft hoarder! As for paper I try to use what I have and purchase when something really inspires me (which is tough!) I used to order online now I stick to sales at local stores.

  19. Great card!

I am a lover of paper of all kinds. I am in the process of purging my papers as I have so much that is 10 yrs or older and figure if I haven't used it in that time, I need to send it down the road.
I buy paper where ever but since we don't have any scrapbook stores left we buy at M's, J's and HL. I buy what I like when I see but will occ. buy special paper for special pictures, but then forget to use that paper when I scrap those pictures - LOL!!

  20. I have always loved paper! In fact, that's why I started card making, so I could buy some of those gorgeous papers I saw in the stores. I do prefer a couple of papers, and look for them wherever I go. I seem to have better luck at small stores, such as one of our "local" (only 45 miles away) drugstores. And yes, I have lots and lots of papers. My husband just groans when he sees me with more... suekimmet at gmail dot com

  21. I buy what I like, especially if it is a good deal. Told my husband I could stay in my craft room 'til end of this year and not use up all my paper, but I could use some new. Hee Hee. That which I really, really like, am afraid to use in case I mess up.

  22. HI Diane, My name is Marilyn and I have a paper addiction! HA! My daughter was here the other day and said "you know Mom you have a problem"
I love to look at paper, colors, textures, sizes, coordinated sets. I try to buy only if there is something I really "need" at this point because I probably have enough paper to make a card for every family member of mine, yours and the neighborhood! Love it!
Snow here in Ohio again...sick of it! Maybe I'll play with my paper today!!

We are having a beautiful sunny dY here in Mississippi! Finally!

  24. All of the above! I am working on using what I have this year, although I will buy paper for a particular project if needed. I have found that American Crafts textured paper cuts well in my Cricut and Cameo machines and makes a great base for scrapbook pages and cards as well, so I try to stock up on that when I need solid colors -- and AllScrapbookSteals often has great deals on the packages so I buy enough at one time to get free shipping. I am a bit of a paper snob in that I realize that life is too short for paper that is going to tear or stick to my mat for dear life, so am willing to pay a little more for quality so that I save time and frustration when crafting! I love to see all the papers you use in your projects, and have gone looking for certain types after seeing what you have done!

  25. I tend to buy my paper when ever and where ever I find it. I usually find a lot of it at Tuesday Morning and Marshalls also. Love a good deal. I am a paper hoarder and laughed when I read your post about not wanting to use you "good paper" I can totally agree with that. I have more paper than some small scrapbook stores. It's embarrassing sometimes but sometimes you just have to buy some more. haha.

  26. I am a paperholic. I must admit hat I have a thing about paper. I buy paper where ever I see it. Since I live in Pittsburgh PA and I've never set foot in my favorite scrapbook store in Lafayette, LA , I do a lot of on-line buying! Thank goodness for the internet!! Loved your non-girly card today.

  27. I am definitely a paper hoarder - sometimes I'm embarrassed about the amount of paper I have (more than I will ever use). My two daughters-in-law, my 5-year-old granddaughter and I try to scrapbook together once a month so they know I usually have something they can use. :) I'm trying to now purchase only paper for a specific project and discipline myself to use up what I have before I buy more. Love paper!!! debling at cox dot net

  28. As I've advanced in my card making, I changed the way I buy paper. I no longer buy 12 x 12 but stick mainly to 6 x 6 paper pads. I do buy some online when there's a sale or from the big box craft stores, as you call them. I recently bought Christmas and Valentine pads because I didn't have any and they were on sale at an online store. Otherwise I buy what appeals to me. (and know I'll use). I found out that it pays to buy good paper to stamp on. I had inks changing colors on me when I used less expensive paper from Georgia-Pacific.

  29. Paper Hoarder? YES! I have so much paper that I know I'll never use it all up. I keep saying I will start using the old stuff before I buy anymore, but that never happens, lol!! I can do both, buy paper I like when I see it, or if I really need something to use for special pictures I will go buy it for just those pictures. I LOVE paper!! I also love how you turned the girlie paper into a guy card!! I think its just perfect!!

  30. I tend to buy a lot of stacks which are stacking up!

  31. I'm definately a paper hoarder and have much more than I can ever use! Can't resist a paper pad on sale and if I see an individual sheet that I like, I always get a few to use and a few to save. Shop for paper on QVC, ACMoore and JoAnn.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Omg, I am such a paper hoarder, but it comes by honestly. When I see some paper that I like, I buy it. Last year I bout 7 of the same Christmas Pads because I forgot I already bought it. Embarrassing, I know. My new take is not buy any new paper until I make a serious dent in my current stash. I've been doing pretty well so far. Except that when I signed up as a Stampin Up Demonstrator, I bought a bunch of paper to match my stamps. That doesn't count, right??? lol, I'm hopeless!!!

  33. I'm a copy cat. If I see someone make a card I like on one of the blogs then of course I have to have the same paper she is using because the card wouldn't be the same without it, so off I go to the store or online to buy it. Then when I'm at the store I see some other papers I like, so then that paper goes in the drawer with all the hundreds of other sheets. I'm definitely a hoarder. Your card is so cute, I'm sure your hubby loved it.

  34. Okay, short and simple...I am a paper hoarder. I can honestly say I have several bins full of paper...and keep buying more, when it's on sale...a good sale, then, it's another truckload. Sounds like we need to start a Paper Hoarder's Anonymous.

  35. Since there are no local scrapbooking shops around, I am limited to A.C. Moore, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and T.J. Maxx. I really do get the occasional bargain at T.J. Maxx especially in 6x6 paper packs.

Anyone who sees my craft room would definitely classify me as a paper hoarder! And I definitely have more paper than anyone could reasonably expect to use up but I'm always on the lookout for something new and different. I buy paper that I like whenever I see it (and it's on sale or I have a great coupon) but I also buy for particular projects especially if I need a lot of one color or design for mass production of a particular card (like at Christmas)

  36. I am a huge paper hoarder, but the best of intentions that someday each sheet WILL be used. I shops sales and for what appeals to me. Rarely do I have a specific layout in mind, but I do know what photos I take and themes I like. I am both a solid and print shopper for cards and scrapbooking. Where I shop... JoAnns, Michaels, Craft Warehouse and I am a CTMH consultant.

  37. I admit--I AM A PAPER HOARDER! I have so much paper I will never be able to use it all. I have at least one set of nearly every paper pack Creative Memories ever made. I also have tons of other brands of paper packs. I only use CM on scrapbooks never cards and everything else I use only on cards never scrapbooks. It's just one of those little quirks I have :) I no longer allow myself to wander down the paper isle!

  38. Oh yes, I'm a paper hoarder! I have more paper than I can possibly use. I don't typically buy it because I need it, but because I like the look of it. I usually get my paper from big box stores - have not had much luck with finding paper at my local Marshalls.

  39. I used to buy all of the new DCWV stacks, but haven't seen any that I needed in a few years. And I really don't like their solids anymore because I don't like the white core. I love some of the K and Co stacks - bought all of them when they were on sale at J's and they don't carry them anymore. Much of it is way too pretty to use! Especially on "guy" LO's. I have way too much "cheap" solid 12x12 and 8 1/2 x 11 that I"ve collected - I am hoping to donate much of that once my daughter graduates and won't need it for school projects. I love the SU card stock but find myself saving it - and I don't have much luck with it in my cutting machines. I have a question for you - how do you like the Cutterpede trimmer? I've had my eye on it but don't know anyone who has one. Also, I have zero space for a 12 inch cutter that doesn't fold up.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I usually buy pattern paper with the projects (birthday, wedding, anniversary cards etc.) or person in mind. I do however like to find groups of patterns that match something that catches my eye and use that for inspiration when I'm making a card for someone who I didn't have a place to start from in the first place.

  41. I'm a paper hoarder. I buy it whenever there's a sale and stock up. All of the independent stores are gone around here so I buy from the big box stores. When I'm ready to make a card or a LO, I shop my stash.

  42. I'm a paper hoarder - no question! The real problem is that I buy when I see things I like, then don't necessarily have what I need for a particular project .. so of course I have to buy more. Mostly I buy paper at the local box chains, but have been finding things on line that I can't get there so that's been a nice discovery. Oh, and thanks for the tip about turning the embossing folders "upside down" ... sometimes it's the simple things! Cheryl G in Maine

  45. What a cute card! I love two sided paper! I am definitely a hoarder! I buy whatever and whenever I see something I like, and I just can't keep up creating at the rate I collect! LOL I am so happy to know I am not alone! Thanks everyone!

  46. I can't resist paper! But then I find it hard to use...what if I need it for something else?! So, yes, I'm a hoarder! I look for the 2-sided papers/cardstock. There's so many more things to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I do have more paper than I'll ever use, but I know there are people out there that have way more than me. I use that to justify buying more! I tend to buy what I like with no particular use in mind. I love to make mini albums, so what appeals to me are paper sets with matching embellishments that I can use in making albums. I try to have some control where paper buying is concerned and do pretty well for awhile, then something catches my eye and I go on a binge. I tend to hoard my paper, but am trying to overcome that. Love your blog!

  48. Yes, I have more paper than I can reasonably use. I'm the lucky recipient of a gal who donated tons of paper to my card making group so I shared with them. 50. Paper , I am a paper hoarder!!!! My last purchase was from Michaels an was Hello Kitty . I rarely buy single sheets. We don't have a scrapbooking store near us, except for the regular chains anymore. I buy a lot of DCWV, from JoAnns or A.C. Moores I love SEI paper if I get to a convention. Oh and forgot for a second ,I ordered some "We are Memory keepers paper from HSN this week ,never tried theirs before, but loved the chevron strips sooooo...Did I say I have enough paper probably for the rest of my life, I'm 67 an use it nearly every day!!! lol

  51. I have plenty of paper.... but if I see some I really like I'll get more! I don't usually get single sheets and I like to find it at TJ Maxx, too. I'm not real fond of the white core paper because it sometimes does not emboss very well although I just watched a video about finding the grain of the paper and then embossing the "correct" way.

  52. Paper -- I am trying to figure out a good way to store it. I hoard paper like most women buy shoes. I mostly buy paper pads. I love DCWV and get it from JoAnns.... I love stripes, dots, and checks.............I hope to get more time to craft.

  53. Funny you should comment on paper too good to use! I guess I never thought of myself as a paper hoarder, but I have to say it does sound like me :). 55. I get my paper from Joann's Fabrics, but my friend has given me a lot actually an obscene amount of paper. I have so much paper stock my granddaughter won't be able to use it all - does that make me a hoarder ABSOLUTELY!!!

  56. Yikes!! Answering this questions is like facing my demons. I have so much paper and I continue to buy. I try to buy for specific projects these days but really should take the time to look through my stash. I will soon be moving to a new craft space so I will weed through the stash. :) I tend to buy at Michaels because it's on my daily path and I now stay away from stacks in general only because I never use all the papers in them.

I LOVE paper! I have so much paper that I do not believe that is can all be used up in 10 lifetimes!

I, of course, prefer to purchase at local big box craft store to utilize coupon and sales...I do like DCWV (I only wish they had matching embellishments for for their paper lines.) they have beautiful paper. I also love K and Co., Basic Grey and Graphic 44, Echo Park.

I like kits the matching items esp. form Scrapbook Deals or Pick your Plum.

    I really need help!

  61. I normally buy paper from J's, Mike's, and the Lobby. If I want a heavier paper, I shop online at Papertrey Ink. Am I a hoarder? An emphatic YES. I buy the paper with the intentions to use it, but pull it out, look at it, and think to myself that I'll save it for the next project.lol I have so many paper pads that I could open my own store. When I first started papercrafting, I would buy paper because it was sooo pretty and was calling my name. I didn't have an express purpose for it. I've gotten better about that, but I'm still a work in progress. I tend to buy the 6x6 pads rather than the larger sizes because they work better with my current projects. I have been better about using what I have and buying as I need...actually, I could probably last several years without buying another piece! I buy most of my paper at my local scrapbook store.

  65. I love the card! I have a TON of cardstock! I used to buy paper at my friends scrapbook store, but it has since closed and I haven't bought paper in quite a while. Everyone once in a while I will see a DCWV pad I like and will get it at Joanns. Yes, I am a paper hoarder. But I'm starting to use my paper because I have run out of room and need to use what I have before I can buy more. I generally buy paper that I like, then it sits in my bins not getting used. I'm working on not doing that anymore! All our our scrapbook stores near me have gone out of business. I don't really care for paper from Hobby Lobby, Joanns or Michaels, so now I will more than likely purchase what I need from an online store.

  66. Very neat card !! Yes, . . . I am a "paper collector". :) I actually like some Michaels paper and DCWV. I've been doing really good at using what I have so hopfully by summer I will have made room for more !!

  67. I really like to find paper on sale. Otherwise, I would be spending mega-dollars on just paper! I try not to over buy and to use whatever I have and not hoard it. I also try to share some of my paper with my card-making sister. We have fun sharing what we have - including our ideas and enthusiasm for this fun hobby.

  68. Love the card and the sentiment.
    I AM A HOARDER.
I buy paper because is pretty and because I "need" it for some project. I have to say that I have change the way I buy. Mostly due to the economy(thight budget); but also, because I want to force myself to use what I already have (which is a lot).
    Thanks

  69. I love paper. Sometimes I but for a specific project, and other times I buy because I like the paper. And of course, I am always buying for my stock - usually solids. You never know where inspiration will come from. And since I don't have local access to a scrapbook store, I like to have enough paper on hand so I can create when I get the time on am in the mood.

  71. I LOVE paper. I used to buy paper when I saw something I liked. Now I have so much however it never seems to be the right color or design. I'm pretty much buying now what is needed to complete the project. I sometimes have to challenge myself to use what I have. Going to be a problem for me now as a Hobby Lobby just opened up here. Haven't been yet but plan on going Sunday after taking grandson home.

  72. I am a reformed paper hoarder. Now I have a very limited supply and for those special projects I go purchase the paper. But my staple of paper is Stampin Up. I love that they are dyed all the way through.

  73. I am not sure if I commented on this post, I looked through and didn't see it. Yes I am definitely a paper hoarder. I love love paper, wish I could find a scrapbook store.

  74. Wow, paper is so seductive! At first,I bought larger pads of paper. It was pretty but never use. I became more selective now. I try to know where I will use the paper before I buy. BUT some of the paper is so pretty I cannot bring myself to use it. I am continuing to try to reform. I just love your boxes. Kdobbins194807@yahoo.com

  75. I am definitely a paper hoarder. I am getting back into scrapbooking more and I'm trying to use it up and to be more selective when I buy more. I love the card you made today.

  76. You might be able to call me a hoarder, but I do use what I have. I usually buy paper from JoAnn's, Michaels, and AC Moore because we don't have a scrapbooking store anywhere near us. A lot of times I go in search of paper for a specific project in mind, but most of the time come home with more...

  78. I have a crazy amount of paper. I need to find a way to organize it already. I love to find nice packs of paper in dollar stores, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Walmart, Target- they always have something for a very reasonable price! Never anything too amazing, but nice paper all the same!

  79. I think I do have more paper than anyone could use but I never have the right shade or pattern. I buy paper I like whenever I see it and I buy paper when I need it for a project. Yes, I'm a paper hoarder. They say admitting it is the first step in the cure but I really don't think I can be cured.

  80. Such a cute card! Love the embossing :-) I truly have more paper than I could use in my lifetime, and I have slowed down on purchasing it. I know I could purge a bunch too, but as long as I have the storage space, I'd rather just keep it because I have found uses for paper in stacks I didn't think I'd use. You never know! And what individual sheets I've bought, I know exactly what I will do with them when I get around to it. I've been craftier this year than the last 7, so I hope to put a dent in the paper bought with a purpose! Remember a couple years back, SCS had a forum thread "Are you taller than your paper?" If you were to stack your paper up, would you be taller. I'm only 4'11", so its not as fair to ask me... but I have to admit you could likely make 2 of me in paper piles from my stash... 1 in cardstock and another in patterned!!!

  81. I understand ur obsession. Like u I to have an obsesion. Mind is with paper. I buy whatever catches my eye and then bring it home to add to my stash. Then forget about it or just never end up using it. Needless to say , I have way too much paper and no room for much else. I do plan on donating some of it but it sure is hard to get rid of. Love all of ur designs. Thanks for sharing.

  82. Yep, I'm a hoarder. I don't typically buy single sheets, unless I need something for a particular project ... I prefer to buy collections. I'm always just a little sad when I cut into the last sheet of a favorite paper.

I'm afraid I love paper too...I have been trying very hard to stay out of the paper aisles, because I have such a hard time walking away! I promised myself I would not buy any more until I used what I have. I like shopping for specific projects mostly. But the problem is, I go into the store, it's on clearance, and I CAN'T pass up a good bargain!!!! AAAAaaargghh!

  84. I have so much paper from various place, I need to have a craft yard sale. I used to buy single sheets from here there and everywhere. Decided a few years ago to only buy paper that I am going use right now and not stockpile paper.

  85. I'm definitely a paper hoarder. And yes, I have more paper than I'll ever use, but I keep buying more. Sometimes I spend more time just looking for the "right" paper for a project than I do making the project itself. For me, that's part of the fun.

    1. I do that too. I will be looking & looking & looking through all my paper... I think subconsciously I like doing that.

  86. I love paper & find that I buy whenever I see it. I usually purchase from the chain stores and usually buy stacks or packs... every now & again I buy single sheets fro the local scrapbook stores.

  87. I used to buy it whenever on sale and stock up., Unfortunately, it goes on sale a lot so I've learned to resist, No place else to store it. You inspired me to try some digital papers and I'm enjoying them, saves time looking for the right scale, color, etc. and easy to store! Enjoy reading all the replies, very fun!
