Blog Celebration and Giveaway- Day 6
I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day yesterday. We had more snow today. I am not sure why I am telling you that - at this point it feels like we have snow everyday. The Governor told us to stay home, so we did. I do have one photo to share - taken from our deck doors...
...that snow is really piling up!
Here is the photo I couldn't share yesterday with the first five days of additions to the boxes. To recap, there is a 20 sheet 12 x 12 pack of Core'dinations Core Couture glitter cardstock, a role of red heart washi tape, two containers of Martha Stewart glitter in garnet and peridot, a Martha Stewart heart and flowers stamp set and two sheets of the mermaid cardstock, one cut up along the lines with all of the pieces you need to make the card I posted yesterday (one card will have a starfish instead of a fishy fish - I must have lost it somewhere in the craftroom).
You may have seen this photo of our front door before. I have posted pictures of some of the wreaths that I hang for the different seasons and holidays over the years. This wreath didn't start as a heart. It was just a circle of pink hydrangeas and I bent the form into a heart shape. It has held up pretty well over the years.
This photo shows the back side in case you'd like to try to make your own. I think the wreath came from Home Goods many years ago.
I used a photo of the wreath and my Panstoria Artisan software, to create this digital version of the wreath that I can now use for my digital pages and projects. (I know, I promised a video showing how to do this and I will do my best to get that posted soon).
I used my new digital embellishment on this page for the Layout a Day challenge. We were supposed to make a new layout using photos that we had already used on a page. (The first page I did with these photos is posted HERE.).
Now that Valentine's Day has come and gone, it is time to start thinking about Spring holidays. I think most people agree that Spring can't get here soon enough this year! I don't usually hang this wreath outside but the blue door made a good backdrop.
I learned to make these wreaths when our younger son went to the German Kindergarten and they invited parents to come to an Elternabend (parent's evening) which included a craft project. I posted the basic directions HERE a few years ago.
Egg decorating was very popular in Germany and I collected a lot of lovely hand painted eggs when we lived there.
There are shops that sell beautiful eggs. This photo was taken by a friend in a shop in Austria that was filled with thousands of eggs.
When we made the egg wreaths at the Kindergarten, we used this special paper (yes, another paper obsession). It is very typically sold in Germany for gift wrapping. When I went to the big PaperWorld show a couple of years ago I was on a mission to find some more of this paper to bring home and share. I finally found it in one of the big department stores in Frankfurt.
I have added a pack of this special geschenkseide (translates as "gift silk") to each of the boxes. There are four sheets in each pack and they are all different. I have never found the equivalent in a store here. This paper is stronger than our typical tissue paper and has a pebbly texture.
Here is a closer view of each of the three packs:
There are so many patterns and colors and they look very different when the sheets are torn and applied to the hollow eggs for the wreath. (You could also just use them for gift wrap).
How do you play along in the blog celebration giveaway?
To enter for a chance to win one of the three boxes - see all of the details on the first blog celebration post HERE. Then come back and get your comments in on this post. Remember, if you sign up for the new newsletter (see the box at the top right of the page) I will be choosing one person from the subscribers as a box winner (you don't need to leave a comment here since I can see that list).
I really enjoyed hearing about your paper obsessions in yesterday's comments. It seems that many of us have a more-than-adequate supply of paper and still can't resist adding to it when we see something we like. At least this is a relatively harmless obsession. I usually try to answer all comments on my posts but it has been a bit overwhelming. I will try to catch up and at least answer any questions that were posted in the next day or two.
Today's question to answer in your comment is:
It's pretty clear that most of you love paper. Do you use other sorts of paper in addition to the typical cardstock and patterned papers sold for scrapbooking and papercrafting? Have you ever gone off the beaten track in search of paper while on a trip or vacation? What is the most unusual paper source that you have found?
I hope you are having a nice weekend - and aren't stranded or without power. I have some projects to finish up before next week, so Sunday will be very busy for me.

How generous of you; to share that precious paper!
ReplyDeleteThe only time a deviate from scrapbook paper is when I'm trying to come out with a base (shape) for a new mini album; and sometimes when making cards. The supply for scrapbook things here in Puerto Rico is very limited, with just a few stores; and no big store chains like Michaels, Joanns, etc. :(
Thanks
We don't travel or go off the beaten path but for card making I have used different packaging or cut up paper bags. Not for scrapbooking since it's not acid free. I have been blessed with some finds at garage sales and second hand stores.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful heart wreath you have as well as the Spring egg door wreath.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do use different papers for cards. I have used Christmas wrap, birthday, as well as other wrapping papers for my cards. Have also used pretty paper napkins in making cards. So many lovely paper napkins that they make into gorgeous cards. Now, them I have a great collection of.

Wow, such a lovely and special addition to the boxes. I have a lot of specialty printable papers like transfers, stickers, post-its, photo, banners...also have some old wallpaper books.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about wallpaper but never used it... how does it work out?
DeleteI love your wreaths. This paper you used on the Easter wreath is quite interesting and very pretty. Thank you for sharing this. I loved the fact that Kindergarten in Germany offered a craft project for the parent! How clever!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do have lots of paper and a lot of different types, I don't know that I've ever come across something so unusual. I sure wish I had, but then I might become a paper snob and not ever use it! LOL!
I typically use scrapbook paper because you can cut it with the cricut or portrait. But I do have some pretty handmade papers that I hand cut and use occasionally. I've also kept pretty gift wrap and used it for projects. Sometimes brown paper bags too.
ReplyDeleteI realize you are probably tired of the snow, but it beautiful. I am ready for spring! I love looking for paper and usually try to find a scrapbook store when I travel. My husband always got frustrated when I wanted to search for one. But he loved the scrapbooks I create. Can't wait to see what comes next~
ReplyDeleteI do like to go to scrapbooking stores on vacation. I have found lots of paper to match the vacation destination. The most unusual was Bunco Paper and red had society paper. Meredith245 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteI have used different textured papers, but I don't know the names of them. If I see a paper store when I am visiting somewhere, I am sure to check it out.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Diane,
ReplyDeleteThe very first 'real' craft project I making these eggs! Our neighbor had only son's so I became her little helper! I've cut back on purchases but I always look ...
Bernadette
I have never gone in search of, or used any special paper. If I did I"m sure I would be afraid to use it! So nice of you to share yours!
ReplyDeleteI tend to look for paper while on vacation, something I cant find elsewhere - but honestly - that is what most people/crafters do. I am interested in seeing the responses as I bet there will be some good ones that will enable me
ReplyDeleteAside from the standard cardstock/paper pads I have made my own paper. The process is very time consuming and can get messy, but the results are so rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI like to buy wrapping paper when in different places. It's so pretty and so many uses. I found some of them you cut out some of the patterns and put them in your scrapbook pages. Makes beautiful backgrounds too. Thanks for the chance to win one of your awesome boxes.

Diane, I have a question about your deck: Are you worried about the weight of the snow pulling the deck down? Oh my! We here in Atlanta had snice (snow and ice) this week as I am sure you know from the news. The sounds of limbs falling for a couple of days had me worried! Worried one of them would crash through our roof but we made it out unscathed. A couple of limbs did hit our fence but nothing major! I can't imagine what it is like to have as much snow as you all are having now. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
ReplyDeleteNow to YOUR question: Yes, ever since 1997, when we would go out of town, the first thing I would do would be to sit down with the city's yellow pages and look for scrapbook stores. It was a given that we would be visiting them! My hubby was quite understanding and would always take along his digital solitaire game, knowing I would quite possibly be a couple of hours. :-) My most favorite store was found in Foley, AL, quite off the beaten path but it even had rocking chairs for those not shopping. It think it was called "Gigi's Scrapbookin'" Quite a neat little shop!
I am always on the hunt for paper for my projects. I look to wrapping paper, ads, and any thing that passes by me. I love paper! Happy 6th anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThe papers are beautiful! So exciting. My sister used to live in Germany. I wish she still did. I'll have to share your egg story and picture with her. I used to quill, but I haven't in awhile. I guess you might consider that a different type of paper. Regarding unique places to find paper, nothing so unique for me other than you might consider Big Lots unique. They have paper that is decently priced.
ReplyDeleteOne of the first things I do when I travel is pull out the phone book in our room to check out what sort of shops are in the area. I usually can get my husband to go to one or two. I am also a Master Gardener and my local group take a couple of trips each year to visit gardens in various areas. If the occasion arises to shop I do buy papers and/or something that go along with our trip to use on my pages.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, you really do have snow! Surely cannot imagine the problems it is causing for many, many people. Hope it quits soon! Yes, I use lots of kinds of papers. I'm always seeing things that are interesting for their patterns or textures. You can find lots of interesting textures on unusual papers. I was looking at the red cellophane on my Valentine candy heart...
ReplyDeleteI have found that sometimes scanning in a wrapping paper can be wonderful, but usually I stick with the regular stuff. I have used some mulberry paper and I found a pack of paper once that was embedded with tiny golden studs...very pretty for a special card, not so much for scrapbooking as it wasn't acid free. I love that you put the special paper in the boxes! Wow, so generous. My college roomate was Ukranian and we did Psanky eggs with dye, but I think I would be better using the paper to decorate the hollow eggs.
ReplyDeleteOnce once have I visited a scrapbook store while on vacation - simply because we happened upon it. I have used chipboard, grunge, mulberry, embossed papers, gift wrapping paper, and even wallpaper.
ReplyDeletedebling at cox dot net
I bought 2 huge boxes of cardstock trimmed from posters on craigslist. Enough for 6,000 card bases. Most unusual I used on a card was a portion of a toothpaste box that was silver. I have a large antique roll of brown paper (the kind stores used to use to wrap your purchase) and I use that for wrapping packages. Looking for scrapbook stores is a given on trips and Tuesday Morning is always on the agenda.
ReplyDeleteLove the wreaths you made, I have made Ukranian eggs, with the wax and special dyes. Fun.
ReplyDeleteI have a stack of paper. I seem to be drawn to K&C paper pads. when we went to Sesame Street park I had to buy Elmo and his friends scrapping kit. WHEN THE FAMILY, went to DISNEY, I asked them to bring home some Disney scrap book ing paper. Both my grandchildren have scrap books that show there first 5 years . When I was able to get around I always looked up stores for scrap booking, when visiting family. I would love to win some paper from Germany.
DawnRI
basically I always use what I have. I have used mulberry paper to make tear bears.
ReplyDeleteThose papers are gorgeous!!! thank you for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteI love paper of all kinds and use metals (which are awesome embossing and then colored with alcohol inks), cork, mulberry papers (love the fuzzy edges), flocked papers, chipboard (for shaped books), grunge paper. Household foil, waxed paper and saran wrap (another one for alcohol inks).
The eggs and papers are gorgeous! I love all the different papers and have tried them all. Always search for scrapbook stores and new products while on vacation. Thanks for sharing with us! Hope you snow melts soon!
ReplyDeleteWhenever we travel the first thing I do is look for scrapbook stores and yarn stores! I've used some odd things for layouts and cards including gum wrappers, teabag paper, chopstick sleeves, and of course wallpaper. I've made paper several times and that's always great to use for special cards.
ReplyDeleteCheryl G in Maine ... where we have at least as much snow as you do!
I am pretty basic with my paper use--the traditional card stock or scrapbook papers are my usual go tos. Some times I will play with vellum but that is rare.
ReplyDeleteI usually stick to the papers from the big card stock companies, but I do have some stationery that is something like a mulberry paper, and use it occasionally. The German egg paper is something I have not seen ever. That looks like a fun thing to try. bmarczak68atverizondotnet
ReplyDeleteThree people are going to be in heaven when they get your boxes. Love the German paper. I always go looking for paper when I travel to another city, any kind and every kind. There is a store where my son lives and everything sells for $1. I have found some very good deals there.
ReplyDeleteI use many different kinds of paper and different textures. I guess I have never looked to find a name for them. Most of them I find at speciality stores and handmade paper stores.
ReplyDeletethe paper that I speak of came from a paper store in Ohio, a friend of mine from card club would go there once a year an pick up for us, it was sold bythe pound.....It looked like leather but was only as thick as regular cardstock...it made great green frogs an other things with texture...
ReplyDeleteI like the beautiful paper bags that you sometimes get at the smaller shops and boutiques. I've used tissue paper, old books, and napkins One of my favorites is using embossed metal repair tape for backgrounds.
ReplyDeletekathylascala at gmail dot com
I love the heart wreath! I haven't been on any excursions to find unusual papers. I use the standard cardstock, vellum, mulberry, and handmade papers I find locally. I love texture and usually emboss at least one element to get some. The German papers are intriguing. caroleewin at roadrunner dot com.
ReplyDeleteI'm guess I'm not very adventurous where paper shopping is concerned. I have used paper from old books, phone books and newspapers. I just recently bought a 4 foot roll of craft paper to use on different projects, as well as wrapping presents. Origami papers have some beautiful patterns that are fun to use. I think you're very generous to share your paper from Germany with us. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI have some REALLY big sheets of specialty paper that I found at a scrapbooking show. They must be 4x2' sheets. I haven't used them yet. It must be the "I'm saving it for something special' thing. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour heart wreath is so beautiful. I also love the amount of snow you have. Living in the Pacific Northwest and missing snow this year. I have used brown paper bags, contact paper with wood look, foil, lace fabric, toule. I have a drawer that I use for items that I recycle and I think I could use for projects. I like the netting that comes on fruit for fishing projects. I have also used the cereal boxes.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day.
Linda in Stanwood
Your wreath is beautiful. I normally stick to run of the mill crafting papers, but I will admit I have used some wrapping paper and different paper bags in some of my creations. Some stores have some beautiful bags.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend living in Japan now and she brings me back Washi paper made out of tree fibers. The colors are so vivid. Of course it's so pretty I'm afraid to use it. I've used felt, fleece, puzzle pieces and decks of cards to decorate, I've used just about anything that fits on a card to decorate. For male cards I'll go out in my husbands shop and see what I can use. Lots of interesting things out there! I love your egg wreaths and your heart wreath against your beautiful blue door. You always have so many unusual ideas.
ReplyDeleteDiane your Wreaths are beautiful! That paper is gorgeous I wonder if you can buy it on ebay? I generally just use what I have sometimes I even use paper towels!
ReplyDeleteI have used some high-quality gift wrap on my cards. I like the stuff that is not shiny, but has more of a matte finish. I also always look a purchased greeting cards I have received to see if there is any part of them I can reuse on my own cards. Sometimes they are made from some high-quality cardstock that is fun to reuse. I also always peering at any other packaging materials, to see if they are reusable. You'd think I was penniless, the way I collect scraps!
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome things you are putting into the boxes, 3 people are going to be very very happy, I would love to be one of those 3 people. :-) wouldn't be all. I love shopping for paper but we don't have any stores that sell such "beautiful" paper as you just put in the boxes. Again, I keep seeing you say if we signed up or your new newsletter we don't need to leave a comment here, but I don't understand, am I to leave a comment somewhere else??? Yes I am sure you are very tired of the snow, but how beautiful it is. We don't get snow here but once in 5 years or so and then it melts before it hits the ground.
ReplyDeleteThe only other paper I have used is vellum, foil and burlap. I don't travel that much so do not seek out paper stores. There was one within walking distance of my granddaugher's and I'd go there when visiting her but it's closed now.
ReplyDeleteI have also used the stuff flowers come in from the florist - it resembles colored pellon - between fabric and tissue. I have no idea what it is actually made of, but the color and the texture are awesome!
ReplyDeleteSadly, I only use papers meant for crafting/scrapbooking. When I do get the opportunity to travel, I am always with others who do not care for my paper crafting obsession so I don't generally get to search out crafting stores. My city only has big box stores now (HL, J's and M's). All the specialty stores have closed.
ReplyDeleteI love your wreaths. I always mean to try some for different seasons but haven't gotten to it(yet). The only other type of paper I have is handmade paper purchased at Costco years ago and mulberry paper but I hesitate to use them on scrapbooks because of their possible acid content. I haven't travelled much since I got bitten by the paper bug but I will be on the lookout on the next trip.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Can you package up some of that snow and send it to us in California...we could really, really use some right now.

I only use scrapbooking papers so that what I buy I can use for cards as well as on scrapbooking pages. I haven't found any small scrapbook shops on our travels but I do look.
ReplyDeleteThe most unusual papers I've found were 2 mat stacks that came from Delhi, India (which I found at Joann's). They were absolutely gorgeous - flocked, embossed, gilded, stitched, etc.!
I mostly use DP and cardstock for my cards and scrapbook pages. But I have some gorgeous Japanese handmade paper with flower imbedded in it. Still haven't figured out how to use it. I love to shop so I will hit any store that have something I might be interested in. Sometimes you find some amazing things!
ReplyDeleteI really only buy scrapbooking/cardmaking papers. I usually get them from the big box stores or a new scrapbooking store that recently opened up in my area.
ReplyDeleteI have some paper other then scrapping booking and regular card stock, but I very seldom use it. Love snow. We are to get up to 6 more inches late Monday, but nothing like you folks. Stay safe and warm
ReplyDeleteI have used many different kinds of paper on my cards. I've made cards using paper napkins, as someone else mentioned. I've also made thank you cards from the bags of the stores where gifts were purchased for me. I recently was given a whole stack of holographic gift bags. I've cut them up and used pieces on my cards when I wanted some sparkle. Several years ago, when planning a road trip, I realized I was going to be near a store where I had ordered craft supplies on line. I called to ask for directions and found that it wasn't a store, but just a warehouse. The owner was nice enough to invite me to come and shop if I didn't mind climbing over boxes. I did visit her and purchased many things that I couldn't find anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteoops..... Ill try again.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, I find it fun to use different types of papers on cards and projects.... I have used bags that the hosp gift store puts our purchases in, They have had some pretty patterns on them. I have used tissue papers that I have received in gifts, and taken store cards apart too.
I will look for paper wherever I go! When I visit vacation spots I keep an eye open..... its always fun to visit them!
I hope you are keeping warm and safe with all that snow!
Thanks again for all your inspiration!
I have used mulberry paper a little. I just love the color and patterns of cardstock. I may try to find a craft store to get a title for a special page, but that's about it.
ReplyDeleteI've tried using mulberry paper and vellum, but I get better results with tried and true cardstock. I guess I'm a creature of habit. Stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteI get paper from old books and have found some handmade paper at renaissance fairs.
ReplyDeleteI've recently discovered adhesive backed washi paper that I'm loving!! A friend in Japan sends me beautiful Japanese papers from time to time and I'm getting better about using them and enjoying them. I do love the big sheets of paper from Paper Source but only buy it as needed for projects since it's so difficult to store. Wish my sister in law still lived in Germany so I could have her look for some of this you've shared today.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started papercrafting, I bought a bunch of patterned paper packs and some solid colors that caught my eye. My original idea was to make our Wedding Album. We will celebrate our 6th Anniversary this year and I still don't have a single page done! I thought that I would learn some techniques and get aquainted with the craft through making some cards. Guess I really got hooked on doing that!
ReplyDeleteWell, now I've discovered that I like to start with plain old white cardstock. I love to use my Cricut, Epic Six, Copics, and Distress Inks to create my own designs!
I've learned so much about creating my own cuts from your blog ---- thank you!
I had a friend teach me to do pysanky eggs many years ago! A lot of work but oh how gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWould you consider wine bottle trim unusual paper? lol Because it's metal and red I use a heart punch on it! Too fun!

Love the eggs................and door wreaths too.
ReplyDeleteI usually just use card stock patterned paper. I once used a wallpaper book of samples. I love the idea of the new newsletter. I have had trouble getting my email the form. It comes back invalid form? Lol Kathie Dobbins
ReplyDeletei love the wreaths, they are so pretty. I have used wrapping paper, old books, corrugated paper, fabric paper.
ReplyDeleteI am a paper hoarder----all kinds of paper! Any paper product has a way of being used in a project. I am amused at what I save to recycle on one of my cards.
ReplyDeleteMust be my German heritage but I really like your egg wreath and all those eggs in your photo! I have used different papers at times - the paper flowers were wrapped in, napkins, things like that. When my friends and I go places we always search out the scrapbook/paper crafts stores.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm not too big of a paper geek. I just like it if it is on sale. :) I think the most unusual place I have gotten paper is the stuff I print off online at HP creations. That way I find a certain kind of paper I am looking for and don't have to leave my house.
ReplyDeleteI used to hunt for scrapbook stores where ever I was. I have been to two in Hawaii, Oregon, North Caroline, and even in Florence Italy. Unfortunately, many of these stores have closed.
ReplyDeleteI like reading about your travel adventures!
Happy Anniversary.
I saw some of your Easter eggs on a previous post and they are beautiful. Eggs are my favorite springtime decoration.
ReplyDeleteThank You for sharing.
When I was in Japan I bought beautiful had mad papers. I used it when I made my scrapbook of the trip.
ReplyDeleteI marvel at ALL you create! I have tried several of your ideas--with some success! I make my husband crazy with all the things I want to save to craft with--I have a large stash of regular cardstock & paper, but I have also used soda cases, liquor boxes,& specialty store bags. I am fortunate to travel for business, and especially lucky to travel with a fellow scrapper. We look for new stores on our travels and have discovered several that we visit on each trip. An essential travel accessory is our paper taker!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!
Shellee
Oh wow! That paper today is simply DELICIOUS! I can't believe that you are not hording it!
ReplyDeleteI do use other papers...Sometimes recycled greeting cards (all holidays) Backing to packaging, gift bags that have torn, packing paper, coffee filters, paper wrap that was wrapped around a bouquet of flowers that were delivered...just last week I recycled some fantastic bags that held valentine popcorn treats. I bought 4 bags and I used it for the the classroom valentine projects.
I am currently into making paper beads (obsessed really) and I have use cut up dog food bags (30lb size) to cut the strips to roll my beads. There is a laminated interior bag that protects the outer packaging. I also use junk mail and flyers to cut and roll the beads. This is also a great way to use up any ugly paper you might have in your stash, esp from paper pads.
Valerie
Another fabulous picture!! Diane, I found some hand made paper at Ross. It was made in India. I've been using it to make girls dresses on canvas. Enjoy your winter - It was 85 in El Paso, TX yesterday and today. I even had to turn on the fan while we were playing cards!
ReplyDeleteI usually buy my paper at Hobby Lobby. Occassionally, I will find a good stack of paper at Ross. A friend of mine also said she has used the wallpaper books to make cards. I have a friend that works at Sherwin Williams so I asked him to get me a few of the expired books. One of them even had a swatch of material and I used that as well on a card.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, Your wreaths are really nice. I used to really do up Easter when my kids were little. That egg wreath would have been the perfect thing!
ReplyDeleteI am always on the look out for something to use in my crafting. I have access to some light cardboard boxes that have a section that is white and glossy. It is really nice when cut into shapes and can be stained, stamped or painted. Otherwise it would be thrown out. I will use old cards, postcards, or any other pretty paper.
I also have a box of the old transparencies that were used for overhead projectors...showing my age. I have used these to make some interesting cards and embellishments. .
Enjoying the daily questions!
We are supposed to get rain and ice today...so looking forward to spring!

In addition to regular scrapbook paper, I also like to use vellum. I really don't use anything else that's very different.
ReplyDeleteLike fabric, I love paper- any kind, weight, pattern, etc. I do search for scrapbooking stores when I travel, but as a quilter first, fabric is usually my priority and end up spending most of my time in the quilt shops.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty limitendian in that I cant get to stores due to my health so , I look for paper on line, one of the sites is Oriental trading, HSN, Michaels and HL of Course...I also use facric for backgrounds, and Shopping bags from Indy Speedway for a scrapbook page...I'm pretty querky!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove your wreaths. I need to hang one.

I usually craft with card stock and patterned scrapbook papers. I do use vellum and some handmade papers.
ReplyDeleteI'm a tried-and-true user of cardstock and patterned paper that I can find at Michael's or JoAnn's. I've never gone off the beaten path in my search for other papers.
ReplyDeleteSadly I never go off the beaten track- I just stick to cardstock and patterned paper. My head is so bursting with ideas for just those, I can't imagine finding time to add playing around with other paper types!
ReplyDeletePretty much cardstock and scrapbook paper for me
ReplyDeleteI love paper. The most unusual paper that I found was wood paper from a store on Market Street in SF that has since gone out of business. It was thin pieces of wood complete with the wood grain that I used to make gates & floors on several of my scrapbook pages. I've also printed pictures I found on the computer to use as background paper.
ReplyDeleteI really like your Holiday wreaths and what a great way to use them in your crafts.
anticil at comcast dot net
I have hit scrapbook stores in cities I've vacationed in, but usually only on girls' trips, not with the family. Like most, I've used packaging at one time or another for paper, and have a stash of wallpaper from expired books that I should be using for cards but frequently forget I own it. I bought 3 large sheets of washi paper at a stamp show recently for a home decor project but not for your standard papercraft project. So sad that small scrapbook stores (and even Archivers) have gone out of business :-( Hard to find anywhere in North GA besides box stores anymore!
ReplyDeleteYears and years ago I won some Japanese paper and LOVED it. It was so different from anything else that I had seen. I love buying embossed papers and glitter papers. I also love handmade papers and mulberry style. I really do not discriminate LOL. I love it all! I buy in person at specialty stores, craft stores and big box retailers and also online.
ReplyDeleteI am not as adventurous when it comes to using paper...I usually stick to scrapbooking paper and cardstock. I LOVE those eggs though! And your wreaths are GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteI guess I do not try to find papers in stores any more since I decided to only purchase paper from CTMH.
ReplyDeleterebeccajholley at gmail dot com
I love all the different papers that are available. I'm definitely a paper hoarder. Whenever we travel I always try to find a local scrapbook store and buy some paper related to the area.
ReplyDeleteI just started the ProjectLife type of scrapbooking & I see endless possibilities with what can be "paper". Menus, maps, event programs, napkins, etc. The only non-paper paper I have ever used in cardmaking is probably pictures.
ReplyDeleteyou have just given me back some favorite childhood memories of wrapping gifts with this gorgeous style of paper. I remember my oma had a drawer in her wall unit that this paper was kept in. I couldn't wait for someone's birthday or other special occasions so that we would could go and pick out this paper for wrapping. Oh how I wish I could find some. Thanks for another trip down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteI will use any type of paper I can get my hands on. It does not need to be specific scrap book paper. as long as its pretty and fits my criteria, I will use it
Everywhere I go, my husband calls it my paper raydar. I seem to find Scrapbook stores everywhere I go, even before I could look them up on my phone.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Jenn Zeeb
