New Video - Cricut Craft Room Tip

One of my goals for this year was to get back into making videos and teaching.  I wanted to get my first video up before the end of January.  Well, I made it - just in the nick of time!

There were changes to my editing program, changes in the You Tube procedures and just a little bit of stage fright.  This is a quick video the shows how to get rid of the tick marks that show you where to score a card when you are using the Cricut Craft Room.

I would love some feedback on the sound levels, video sharpness, whether it plays properly on your mobile devices and any suggestions for improvement.  I try to keep all videos short and to the point - I know you don't have time to listen to me ramble (I do enough of that here in writing!).

Please leave a comment or email me with any topics you'd like me to cover in a video.  I have a list started but will be happy to add more.

If you can't see the video, click HERE.

I hope you are having a great day!

    1. Thanks Judy - I hope to do lots of these. Some for the Craft Room and some for the new Design Space (can't wait to see how that works!).

  2. Great tip, Diane. I share your view of those little tick marks so appreciate knowing how to get rid of them. I would have been stumped when they didn't show in the edit. Video worked well on my laptop; sound level was good. Thanks so much.

    1. Hi Carolee, I am glad to hear that it worked well for you. I have always had a "thing" about those marks. For a simple card you really don't need them. On some of the boxes it helps but I usually cut one on "ugly paper" with the marks, score it and then use it as a sample when I cut my nice paper or cardstock. I have heard that the new Explore and Design Space will allow you to score the lines instead of cutting the little slits - fingers crossed, wouldn't that be great!

  3. Thanks for the tip! I don't like the tick marks either. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. I watched on my iPad and it worked well.

    1. Thanks - it is good to hear that there are no issues with various devices - there are so many ways to watch these days! It looks so much nicer to fold the card without the marks - I am glad there is a way to get rid of them.

  5. Good Morning Diane! I really enjoyed your video, thank you for sharing this useful tip! I like you, do not like the tick marks on my projects. I know this is silly, but I also like your choice of music on your video. I look forward to seeing more!

    Happy 6th Blog Anniversary!

  6. Great tip for removing/covering up tick marks. Thank you so much for sharing. Cameo/Silhouette videos would be good. Also will you be selling svg's that you create?

  7. The video is very helpful, and easy to understand. I struggle with CCR, as I am much better with the Gypsy, and tend to go for her first. I had linked all the cartridges to the Gypsy, and to use CCR, it seemed as though I would have to cut different elements separately, if I was using multiple cartridges. With Gypsy, I can mix and match all in one project. Have they changed CCR to allow me to do this now? I look forward to learning more from you, and Thank You. BethAnn M.

  8. Hi Diane,

The video was great! Sound, quality, clarity, were good. I love your video tutorials. I know it's now old, but could you please do a video tutorial on doing oversized images on Design Studio. I've seen this requested on the Cricut blog, but no instruction has been offered. Thank you for all your inspiration, instruction, and photos...love your photography.

  10. Thanks for the information, I hate those tic marks also, they just make the project look unprofessional.

  11. Good job! Video was clear and sound was just right! Watched on my Ipad.
CCR also has problems with my computer. So I haven't used it much either. Videos on Silhouette would be great. I want to learn to use layers panel. Any help in videos would be great!

  13. I'm glad to know how to do that. It's been such an issue when I would add another shape to cover the marks and it didn't work. Thanks for figuring it out for us.

  14. I don't like those little tick marks either. So thankful for the tip and also the weld tip. I will also try this on envelopes.
Thanks for the tip. I have a question. Is there a simple way to get 2 layers to be the exact same color?
    Thank you

  15. Great tip- thanks for figuring that out. Congratulations on 6 years! I can't believe that I have been quietly stalking your site for so long. Thank you for all your inspiration over the years. I do love your cards and how you create. I really like tips and ideas for some of the older cricut cartridges- some I bought and have no idea why. I think we forget and would love to utilize all my cartridges more. Love the C2MH carts and keep up the good incentives.

  18. So glad to know this, Diane! I've ended up with "holes" when using CCR, that I just couldn't seem to weld, and will try this trick of having the shape on top just slightly touch the edge of the underneath shape. And yes, those tick marks bother me, too, so am glad to know how to get rid of them now. Thank you!
