Creative Memories Digital News

One of the big questions arising from the Creative Memories bankruptcy filing has been the fate of Memory Manager, the photo editing and organization program and StoryBook Creator, the digital scrapbooking program.  Many people have a significant investment in both the programs and the digital content they have purchased from Creative Memories over the years.  It is possible to save the content as individual png and jpeg files but it is a long and tedious process and rather daunting to contemplate for those users who own hundreds of proprietary digital kits.

At long last, there is some news and, pending the approval of the bankruptcy court, Panstoria, the original developer and owner of the programs will be supporting both Memory Manager and StoryBook Creator.

Here are the highlights (from the email I received from Creative Memories):
  • Both Memory Manager and StoryBook Creator software will continue uninterrupted. Software can be activated through December 31, 2013, and Panstoria will continue to provide software updates as needed. This means that software purchases you have made that haven’t shipped can be activated without any trouble, even if they ship beyond September 23.
  • Memory Manager and StoryBook Creator users will be contacted by Panstoria, and will be given access to printing and other features through Panstoria. The plan and timing for printing has not yet been finalized, but will be forthcoming. Please look for Panstoria news and updates in the Memory Manager and StoryBook Creator news feeds (right side of the main page).
  • Any Creative Memories digital artwork you’ve purchased can be activated (without an end date) on any computer.
  • Anyone who has made an investment of time or money in software, projects or artwork can continue to use them uninterrupted.
Here are some screen shots of the information posted as of late last night...

When you log in to the StoryBook Creator program, check the right side of the home page to see more updates as they occur.

This is great news for everyone who uses and enjoys these programs.  I hope that the court approval will be obtained very soon.

Please remember that if you have any product credits or a CD coupon code to use at the Digital Center, you must use them by September 23rd.  I have one $39.99 credit from the April Afternoon CD and I am trying to finish up a small book so it won't go to waste. If the CD has a code with an earlier expiration date - the earlier date is the deadline.

I hope you have a great weekend!
