Last Chance for some Great Deals

Tomorrow is September 30th - can you believe that we are three quarters of the way through 2013?  There are a couple of great opportunities that will end tomorrow, September 30th, so I wanted to give you a quick reminder.

My friend Joy at Obsessed With Scrapbooking just joined Close To My Heart this summer and she is doing an amazing job!  She managed to qualify for the annual incentive trip which is quite an accomplishment in such a short time.  Joy does beautiful projects and she has been doing videos nearly every day to help teach people about the latest CTMH exclusive Cricut cartridge, Artbooking.

The cartridge comes bundled with three exclusive stamp sets and the purchase of the cartridge bundle entitles you to purchase the Stamp of the Month for just $5

In September, there is an additional special celebrating National Stamping Month.  When you spend $50, you can also purchase a special three stamp set bundle valued at $47.95 for just $10.  You can get a total of seven stamp sets, the cartridge and the chipboard shapes for $114 - now that's a deal!  At $17.95 per stamp set (regular price), the seven stamps sets alone are worth $125.65 - and you also get the amazing cartridge and extra chipboard shapes for a total of only $114 (plus tax and shipping).

If you want to take advantage of this great offer, you can shop on Joy's CTMH site HERE.  I am currently hosting an online gathering and would love you to join in - just click the "join" button as shown above to be part of my gathering.

Don't forget to add your extra stamp sets from the shopping cart page - you will see a prompt at the top of the page and you must click on the links or scroll down the shopping cart page to add the sets.

You will be able to add a total of two of each of the sets to your cart.  If you have a friend who is also considering the Artbooking cartridge (or either of the earlier cartridges) and your friend buys in October (my online gathering lasts until October 18th), your friend can buy two of the October Stamp of the Month sets and you can swap.  Your friend would also reimburse you the $10 for the extra triple set you ordered.

This cartridge is particularly good for page layouts and mini albums but the elements can also be used for many other projects.  These card were made with a background design for a summer scrapbook page.  There are some more variations of this type of card that I'll be posting next week.  The background is made with an overlay design cut at 4 inches to fit the card.  If you missed the post, you can find it HERE.

The overlay feature also worked nicely for this card and notebook set.  If you missed the original post about these you can find it HERE.

I have just started to scratch the surface of this cartridge and have lots of ideas for more projects that I will be sharing.  I hope that you will be able to add it to your collection - it is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites!

Vintage Halloween with Twisted Papers

Vintage images are a great source of inspiration and one of my favorite sources for them is Twisted Papers.  Russell and Stan recently updated their site to make it easier to navigate and they have added lots of other great features to help you find just the right image for your project.  There are more than 10,000 downloadable images, over 850 digital collage sheets, 43 CDs and a DVD available on the site.

I used some classic Halloween images for these two projects.  Step by step directions for making this Halloween Lantern are HERE.  This basic design can easily be adapted to other holidays.

The images on these cards are also from Twisted Papers.  I thought it was interesting to find out that people used to say "Merry" Halloween as well as "Happy" Halloween.  You can read the details about these cards HERE.

The vintage images and original artwork are organized into galleries and the final gallery is where you can find the monthly free image sheet.  September's free collage sheet is shown above.  You should be sure to subscribe to their newsletter to know what's new in the store and to receive the monthly free download.  They also have a Facebook Page HERE and you can find information  about new products and occasional bonus freebies there so be sure to "like" the page.  Links to the newsletter sign up and Facebook page are on the left side of the website home page.

There are so many things you can do with vintage images.  Sometimes I simply print them for part of my project.  Other times I try out different ways to transform an image to make it look very different, like this star made from a cornucopia image.

There is a special deal this month to celebrate the new website.  You can add 10 downloadable items to your cart and get the five lowest priced items FREE at checkout.   The code for this deal is BUY5GET5 - be sure to click the "apply" button to use this promotion.

I have a special request for you today...

Russell just had spinal fusion surgery and has been in a great deal of pain.  He is slowly recuperating and is currently in skilled care doing physical and occupational therapy.  It would be wonderful if we could send lots and lots of cards to support both Stan and Russell during this difficult time.   (I am sure they would particularly enjoy cards made with images from the store!).

If you are already a customer or fan of Twisted Papers, or if you would just like to help brighten the recovery process, you can find the address to send a card on the Twisted Papers Facebook page (send me a message if you aren't a Facebook user and I will send you the address).  Russell's last name is White.

Thanks so much for helping.  Please leave a comment if you plan to send a card and you may just get a little freebie from me too!

Autumn Wishes Card

Today is the first full day of Autumn (it officially began yesterday at 4:44 p.m.).  Our weather has been beautiful with bright blue skies and that touch of crispness in the air.

I had some errands to do in town and decided to walk with my camera, hoping to see some changing leaves.  The leaves are still mostly green but I did see one bright tree - I am sure there will be more to follow soon.

With the changing of the seasons, I change the wreath on our front door.  The current wreath is made from a garland of leaves and a few of them fell off when I put the wreath up.  They have been sitting on my craft table along with lots of other bits and pieces waiting to be put to good use.

A little over a year ago, I shared this card that I designed using the Silhouette Studio software.  You can see that post HERE.  I actually designed both a square and a rectangular version but I never put the square card together and posted it.  The colors of the leaves from the wreath made me think about my stack of semi-completed projects, so I pulled out the square card pieces in their autumnal colors at last and made this card.

The pieces were ready to assemble and I looked for a stamp small enough to fit on the front circle with the leaves.

I found a set that I bought quite a while ago and just never got around to using (do you have any of those?).  This set is from Papertrey Ink and is number 7 in the series of "tag-its" stamp sets (item #2404).  I think these small sets are a great value at only $5.

The card base is cut from Core-dinations textured cardstock and I inked it along the cut edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink to hide the lighter core color.  I heat embossed the sentiment in gold and I was pleased that it is quite legible embossed on the textured cardstock even though it is only about 3/8 x 3/4 inches.

The coordinating insert is attached to the back of the card so the cut out design is highlighted.

A few gems clustered here and there add some nice sparkle to the card.

You have to remember to keep the inside sentiment in the center area so it won't show through the cut work pattern when the card is closed.

Happy Autumn to you!  I hope you are enjoying some beautiful weather too.

Important Note for Creative Memories Digital Center users

September 23rd was the original date given as the final day to order digital StoryBooks, Page Prints, Calendars and other Digital Center products.   Due to issues with the servers (so many people uploading at once) the date has been extended to Thursday, September 26th at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.  The Digital Center will be shut down at that time.  All items ordered will be processed and mailed but it won't be possible to access the Digital Center after Thursday to check on order status.

September 30th is the last day for the Creative Memories.com website and all consultant personal websites.  If you haven't downloaded any purchased digital content or programs you need to do it now before the websites go down.  For more detailed information about the digital programs and content see THIS POST.  If there are ideas or techniques that you want to remember from the help pages or project center you should copy them and save the copy to your computer for future reference.

Do you have any fall colors showing in your area yet?  The colors of the changing leaves are so pretty - if only they didn't have to fall and then be cleaned up from the lawn!
