Boston Marathon Tragedy

It's happened again.  Monday started off as a great Patriot's Day with all of the traditional festivities here in Concord.  A few hours later - an unbelievable tragedy in Boston.  We were in the car and heard something about an explosion on the radio.  At home we turned on the TV and saw the terrible scenes that have been replayed all over the country.

All of our family is safe - this year no one went into Boston to see the end of the Marathon.  Our hearts are broken for all of the injured and especially for the families of the three (as of now) who lost their lives.  The injuries were terrible.  Another piece of normal is gone.

Thanks to all of you who were checking to see if we were OK.  If you have young children and don't know how to talk to them about what happened, this article from Boston Children's Hospital may be helpful.  Please stay safe and

I had planned to share the directions for making the butterfly birthday card today - my heart just isn't in it right now.  I'll try to finish the post for tomorrow...

    1. Carolee - you are so sweet to say that. I really do think it is a difficult thing for parents to know what to say or do and children take in a lot more than we realize sometimes. The long term effects are far reaching.

  4. Thank you for your update. I told my husband yesterday that I was worried about you and your family and how every year you are so proud to post parade pictures from your town and talk about the marathon. My heart is so sad for all the families affected by this tragedy.

    1. Hi MaryAnn - thanks for thinking about us. It is so sad when special traditions are spoiled by senseless violent acts like this - the Marathon will never be quite the same.

    1. Thank you Cindy - I know that a lot of people read but don't comment often and that is fine - I am glad to know that you read and enjoy what I post. We easily could have had family members there - we usually watch the runners go by in Wellesley and we didn't even do that this year. We are all still shocked and praying for those who were so badly injured and killed.
