A Sad Update
I have been in Pennsylvania with my Dad for the past two weeks. I went to help with his move to a new building in his retirement community. When I arrived, I found that his health had declined dramatically since his hospitalization for the flu. He entered hospice care and I was able to be with him for his final days. This has been a very difficult time and my full attention was with my Dad and family. We are all so sad to lose him but we have many wonderful memories.
Thank you to everyone who has been in touch wondering where I was. I will be back to blogging when I am able.

Thoughts and prayers for your family. May your wonderful memories help you through the most difficult days.
ReplyDeleteMy Mother had this written in the flyleaf of her Bible.
ReplyDeleteTo Those I Loved and Those Who Loved Me.
When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to do and see. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears, be happy that we had so many years.
So grieve awhile, for if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for awhile that we must part. So bless the memories within your heart.
And then when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and say,
“Welcome Home!”
Diane, may you also find comfort in the wonderful memories that you have.
Marjorie from TX

ReplyDeleteSo very sorry for your loss, Diane! I know what you're feeling. My dad passed away a little over a year ago and I still tear up. Carry a box of tissues around for a long time as a sight, a smell or memory will set the tears streaming at the "worst" possible moment! For me it was while driving! I live in the country so it wasn't quite as hazardous. :-)

Knowing of your Dad's frail health, and your silence, I suspected that we would be receiving this sad news. You and your family have been in my prayers since you mentioned that you were going to see him. My hope for you is that these recent sad memories dim and the fond happy times are what come to your mind first when you think of your Dad. Through your blog, we have learned that you have a strong wonderful family. Gather them close and lean on each other. We have enjoyed the stories of your Dad, as well as the rest of your family, and look forward to the day you are able to share with us again.
