A Sad Update

I have been in Pennsylvania with my Dad for the past two weeks.   I went to help with his move to a new building in his retirement community.  When I arrived, I found that his health had declined dramatically since his hospitalization for the flu.  He entered hospice care and I was able to be with him for his final days.  This has been a very difficult time and my full attention was with my Dad and family.  We are all so sad to lose him but we have many wonderful memories.

Thank you to everyone who has been in touch wondering where I was.  I will be back to blogging when I am able.

  14. I am so sorry for your loss, Diane. I, too, lost my father in July of this past year! It's very sad and painful to lose that special someone that you love so much! But the wonderful memories that you have with that person will get you through this difficult time. Some people say the hardest time is losing them. But for me it's those days after they're gone is so much harder! So what I am trying to say is cherish those memories and hold them close to your heart! It will ease the pain! You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

  63. My Mother had this written in the flyleaf of her Bible.

To Those I Loved and Those Who Loved Me.

When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to do and see. You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears, be happy that we had so many years.

So grieve awhile, for if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for awhile that we must part. So bless the memories within your heart.

And then when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and say,
    “Welcome Home!”

Diane, may you also find comfort in the wonderful memories that you have.

I live in the country so it wasn't quite as hazardous. :-)
