Newtown, Connecticut

The news is heartbreaking.

I grew up in Newtown, Pennsylvania and I drive through Newtown, Connecticut on every trip I make to see my Dad.  We often would call my Dad as we passed through Newtown, Connecticut to say "we're in Newtown...Newtown, Connecticut" as a funny little ritual.  On many trips we stop at the Blue Colony Diner in Newtown, Connecticut, located at Exit 10 on interstate 84.

I drove home today and did not stop at the diner.  I was searching for a clear radio channel and heard the news.  I was in tears for the rest of the trip.  I can't begin to understand how this could happen.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of the families who lost a child or loved one and for the people of the town

Hug the people you love - you never know how long you will have them...

  2. I cannot even begin to understand how something so terrible can happen. I am a teacher at an elementary school - I work in the second classroom down the hall from the school entrance. I prayed for all of the victims when I heard. I couldn't help but think that it could have very easily been our school where something like this happened. It makes me so sad.

  6. I know the Blue Colony Diner well. We lived in Danbury, CT for almost 30 years while we raised our family. We traveled to Newtown often for various events. Our hearts are breaking for this small town. We are in constant prayer for all the victims' families and all who are involved.

  7. I am a retired first grade teacher and my heart is just broken for those who are left with these horrible memories. My prayers are for all of those poor sweet children and the families who are in so much pain today. I also pray that we as a Nation learn from this and we make changes in the right to bear arms and the rights of the mental illness.
