Creating the View-Master Disc File - Step by Step Directions

I hope the View-Master brought back some happy memories for you.  As promised, today I have the directions to show you how I created the file.  The shapes you need to make this file are simple so I didn't even think about looking for it in the Silhouette Store until after I had finished my card.  Then i discovered that there are two View-Master type discs available in the Silhouette store for 99 cents (so if you don't want to try making our own you can just buy one of the files and use it).

You should be able to click on the first image and then click through the screen shots at a larger size.  There are directions for each step on the images.  The trickiest thing is just figuring out the angles before you start.  View-Master discs have seven sets of images so I needed to determine the proper degree of rotation.  I divided 360 degrees by 14 to find that each rectangle should be rotate 25.75 degrees.  When I added  the small rectangles, they were placed between every two rounded rectangles so they needed to be rotated twice to keep the angles aligned.

You could add tiny photos behind the frame of the disc - this would be particularly cute for a series of related photos.  If you printed the photos on transparencies, they would be even more effective.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  The next few days will be very busy with our son's move to the apartment but I will be checking comments and email from time to time.

Happy June!  I hope you have a great weekend.

  2. Thanks for the instructions ... just created this in Cricut Craft Room ... not as perfect as yours, but close enough so you can tell what it is.
