Happy Friday the 13th! I spent yesterday catching up after my trip. I did sort through all of the digital photos I took while I was away and edited a lot (but not quite all) of them. This view of the New York City skyline was taken through the train window as we approached the city. You can see the new World Trade Center rising high above the rest of the buildings. The building will have 105 floors when it is finished and will have a spire that reaches symbolically to the height of 1776 feet (representing the year of the Declaration of Independence).
I have been thinking about the best way to organize the simple scrapbooking challenge for those of you who were interested. National Scrapbook Day is coming up on May 5th, so I am planning to start the challenges the following week. This will give you time to get organized and ready to do the challenges. I am really looking forward to getting back to making albums - some traditional, some digital and some will probably be hybrid albums blending paper and digital techniques.
If you want some motivation and training to get prepared to scrapbook, there is a special program offered by Ella Publishing starting Monday, April 23rd and finishing Friday, May 4th - just in time for you to get busy scrapping over the National Scrapbook Day weekend.
There will be daily "exercise" sessions with a Video and a 20 minute targeted training for each of the twelve days. There will also be four live chat sessions. This will be a "live" event with some great giveaways for live participation. However, the videos will never expire so you can come back to them if life gets busy and you get behind in participating.
You can read the full details about the program on the Ella Publishing site - click on the bold words to go directly to the page for Spring Training 2012. There is also a code to save 10% on the registration - just put SPRINGTIME10 in the coupon code box at checkout.
I am already signed up for this event and I'd love to have you join me. I am an affiliate with Ella Publishing and they have generously offered me a free spot to share with one of my blog readers. Here is how you can win:
1. Visit the Spring Training 2012 page and check out the topics that will be covered by the experts.
2. Leave a comment on this post telling me which topic is most interesting to you. (I am looking forward to tips from Lisa on combining patterned papers).
I will pick a random winner from the comments on Monday night and post the name on Tuesday. Please be sure to leave a way for me to contact you in your comment.
Get in the best scrapbooking shape of your life with Spring Training 2012!
It's a long weekend for us in Massachussetts - Patriot's Day is celebrated on Monday. I hope the weather is nice for the parade. Do you have some fun (and crafty) plans for the weekend?

This class sounds fabulous. I could use a workout routine in several aspects of my life! I follow Lisa's and Nichol's blogs so I am super excited to see what they are offering, but I think the photography tips from Erin will exercise one of my problem areas!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for the chance to win a spot.
Spring Training sounds very tempting. I think I would be most interested in the photography and the scrapbooking fitness segments. I'd love to win a seat in the class!
ReplyDeleteI think Combining pattered paper is for me as so is any organizing instruction.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun filled class. A scholarship would be appreciated in these times of a uncertain economy.

ReplyDeleteI would love to win this series of classes. The design topic is of special interest to me--I find i struggle with this. Thanks for making this chance available.
ReplyDeleteAnd I do love your blog.
I would love the opportunity to watch the session by Erin Cobb, Your Photography Coach as I have a tiny new grandson in a Special Care Unit where it is rather dark for taking photographs.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to take part.

I have to say that Lisa's lessons on combinig patterened paper would have to be my favored topic as well. I tend to shy away from using any patterned paper because it scares me. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'll be making some jewelry this weekend and hope to do some pre-planning on a few scrapbook pages for next Friday night's crop. I hope you have a great weekend and sun for your parade.

I'd love to learn how to embellish with ease. Am currently participating in Take 12 on the 12th-love it. Thanks for the chance.

Whart a hard decision, they all look so good. I am torn between the photography ( i have have 5yo grandson that it is like pulling eye teeth on an gator to get expressions from) and the techniques since I love learning new techniques. I do need to learn about camera settings as I do have a Nikon Coolpix camera that you can set on manual.
ReplyDeleteCombining patterns would definitely be an interesting topic. Purging unnecessary items would also be great. Always seem to be things that I can't part with, but don't use. Thanks for the chance. Pam
ReplyDeleteWhat a great class this is going to be. I need to be in on all the topics but I think journaling is my weakest link, possibly tied with photography.
ReplyDeleteWould love to win, thanks for the opportunity,

would be looking forward to Wendy Smedley, Your Organization Coach. My studio space is constantly evolving and could really do with some organisation ideas.

I think the session on photography and how to make the most of your photos, what to do in poor light, etch. I need exactly that kind of training!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great opportunity! I think the topics are all fantastic and I could benefit for all five areas, but the area I probably need the most help is the Design area. Thank you for offering this great opportunity!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I live in the Midwest, I love your pic as I grew up on Long Island...thanks for sharing!
"Scrapping your butt off" looks interesting to me. I'm not sure my style of scrapping is what they teach but there is always something new to learn and I'd love to be part of it.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful opportunity. all the topics look interesting. the techniques class is something i think i would benefit from. thanks for the chance to win.

Love your sweet card! I would love to win this, all of it sounds great, but the misting with masks really caught my interest! Thanks for the chance to win!

It is hard to pic just one of the classes that most interest me, but I believe that the techniques class would be the one that would be the most beneficial for me. As a relatively new crafter, I am still in the learning process and can use all of the help I can get.

This sounds like fun, fun, fun. I would very much like to attend the photography session. Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI think I need the scrapbooking fitness coach to whip me into shape!!! I have a room full of tools and supplies for scrapping but I get sidetracked by making cards, altering things, you name it. I probably need every class so that I can get my pics out of storage and into albums. Help me, please.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win a spot. All the topics look interesting. I would really like the photography tips!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a chance to win the scholarship to Spring Training. I could really use help in the organizational side of scrapbooking. I could also use pointers in combining patterns.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great series. Would love to win your scholarship. I buy beautiful paper and then can't put together the different designs in a pleasing way, so that's what I most need help with. Thanks. Cheryl G in Maine
ReplyDeleteSpring Training sounds wonderful. I believe I need the combining paper patterns the most, although the photography runs a close second. Thanks for the opportunity to win a scholarship!
