A Couple of Holiday Cards

The days are racing by and Christmas is only seven weeks away - how did that happen?  I have been working on a variety of Christmas projects - some of them are taking a bit longer than expected...but I hope the results will be worth the time invested!

Yesterday was my day to post on the  Creative Charms Blog and I shared a couple of holiday cards.  I have a few more details to give you about the cards. 

This Gingerbread man card is an easel style card.  This type of card takes just a bit more cardstock but it is a nice change from a standard A2 card.  There are directions on how to make this style of card on an older post - just click HERE.  You want a good sturdy cardstock for the base - I used Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate.  The patterned papers are from K and Company (Susan Winget - Glad Tidings) and the green layer on the card front is older Creative Memories cardstock.

The gingerbread man is cut from the 'Tis the Season Cricut cartridge at four inches.  The shadow on this cut is rather wide and you might want to skip it for some projects - I needed the contrast for this card front.  All three layers of the gingerbread man are cut from Core'dinations gemstone cardstock.

A couple of Creative Charms pearl stickers give the gingerbread man's eyes a bit more personality.  The leaf ribbon from the Red Fuzzy Daisy set is attached with LetraTac - you can read more about using this type of adhesive HERE.

Easel cards need something to help keep the card front upright when it is folded back and this  Christmas Vintage Metal Frame is just the right size and will keep the card standing.  This one says "Goodies for Santa" and would be perfect for a cookie decorating party or cookie exchange. 

The plain ivory cardstock is cut at 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches and the lower edge was punched with a Martha Stewart Gingerbread edge punch.  The strip of gold gemstone cardstock is 1/2 x 4 inches and helps the metal frame stand out against the plaid paper.

This simple card is quick to make and very sparkly.  The cardstock is from DCWV (last year's Christmas stack).  The card base is A2 size (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded in half for a card 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches).  This cardstock is white on the back so the card is ready for a stamped or handwritten sentiment.  The band of red cardstock is 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches.

The "Happy Holidays" Christmas Twinkle Sticker fits neatly in the center of the snowflake.  The snowflake is from the 'Tis the Season Cricut cartridge.  It was cut at 3 inches from white "core Couture" glitter cardstock from Core'dinations.

Most of the embellishments I used for these cards are from the November Kit of the Month at Creative Charms.  The three tiny red gem stickers  accent the lower left corner of the card are from the November Deal of the Month.   The Kit and the Deal of the Month are a great way to build up your collection of embellishments at a very reasonable cost.  Be sure to check out the Creative Charms Blog to see some of the other Design Team projects.

Our weather is unseasonably warm - we have to enjoy it while it lasts.  I'm planning an excursion to our local stamp and scrap store to pick up my set of the Tim Holtz limited edition Winter Distress Inks...and maybe a few other things too(!)  Have a wonderful day!
