Happy Tuesday! Today it is my turn to post on the Creative Charms blog. Please stop over to the Creative Charms blog HERE to see my post and leave a comment - I have another little giveaway for someone who comments here or on the Creative Charms blog (leave a comment in both places to double your chances).
You do not have to be a follower to win, however, if you like my blog and want to show your support for my work, please do follow or subscribe. I also have a Capadia Designs Facebook page HERE and if you "like" that page you will see my daily posts in your news feed.
The giveaway winner from my last Creative Charms post is Diane (well that's an easy name to remember!)
Please send me an email at capadiadesigns@gmail.com with your mailing information. I'll be sending you this set of Vintage Velvet Poppies.
Let's get back to today's card. Here you can see the pieces of the design. The red card base is Martha Stewart card stock and the card size is 5 x 7 inches.
The next layer is cut at 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches and the cardstock is from the Christmas Combo Stack by DCWV. Since this layer will be hidden by the top layer, I cut out the center to make the card a bit lighter (and I can use the section I cut out for another card - very thrifty!).
The next layer is an American Crafts pearlized cardstock with a nice texture and fabulous sheen cut at 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches.
The tree is cut in two shades of green Core'dinations cardstock. I cut this tree on my Silhouette SD using the Make the Cut software. I generally use the Silhouette Studio software to design and cut but I own lots of Lettering Delights files that are quicker to use through the Make the Cut software.
This particular set of files is a freebie for Make the Cut customers of Lettering Delights. Lettering Delights has developed a wide range of cutting files and recently partnered with Make the Cut to allow users to access their Lettering Delights files directly through Make the Cut.
If you click on the affiliate link in the left side column or on the image above you can check out the latest offerings at Lettering Delights.
After I assembled the two layers of the tree, I added lots of gems to make it sparkle. I used Gradient Gem Stickers, a red Vintage Jewel and some stars from the Seasonal Sparkles Stickers - Winter Words & Bling. These were all in the July Kit of the Month.
I used some American Crafts foam circles to raise the tree from the surface of the card. I used quite a few foam circles due to the size and weight of the tree.
The little present under the tree is from the Christmas Multi-Dimensional Twinkle Stickers. The entire back is sticky. I needed to add a couple of foam dots to keep it level with the tree trunk.
I used a large, dimensional glue dot to stick the "yo-yo" and the sentiment sticker to the card front. The glue dot raises the sentiment a bit higher than the Christmas tree.
Here is the card with everything but the last finishing touch - three snowflakes from the Seasonal Sparkles Stickers - Winter Words & Bling.
These snowflakes balance the card and add even more sparkle!
The card is very shiny and sparkly - difficult to photograph but fun to see in good lighting. Whenever you move the card just a bit the light catches on all of the bling. I used more embellishments on this card than I usually do and I really like the end result - I hope you do too.
Creative Charms has many items on sale this month - be sure to check out the site HERE for some great deals!
Yesterday was our last birthday celebration for the month - here is our younger son and his "watermelon cake" - it was very tasty! His hair is back to "normal" - at least for now...

ReplyDeleteWow so much bling Diane, not like you but I love it. The tree is stunning and so is the yo yo. A watermelon cake, how fun is that. We don't have a Hobby Lobby either and after visiting the one in San Antonio I'd love to have one here. What is that net called? I orderd several from them just recently but not that color.
ReplyDeletePretty card...love all the embellishments. We're supposed to be getting a Hobby Lobby here in the Sacramento area; I'm so excited. I went to one in Kansas City and really enjoyed myself!
