Summer Sunshine Card

 A few days ago I wrote about the new fine tip nibs that are available for the ProMarkers.  (You can see that post HERE).  They make it much easier to color in the small detail areas in stamped designs.

I used the markers to color this pretty wreath image from Taylored Expressions.  It is part of a series of wreath images in the Petite Stamp Sets.   There have been five of these sets so far and you can see them HERE.  There is a companion die that will cut out the wreath in each stamp set.  (one die works with all five sets - you can see it HERE).  This type of die is very handy to use and I have noticed that more and more stamp companies are making custom dies available to work with their images.

The dies are solid so you need to use the plastic template that is included to mark the placement for cutting.  You line up the template (which is labeled "this side up" so you can position it properly) and then draw pencil dots in the two small circles.

Then you place the die with the two circle registration pieces centered on the pencil dots, tape it into position and run it through the Cuttlebug or other machine to cut out a perfect wreath shape.

The cut is very detailed and fits snugly around the stamped image.

I colored the wreath with these five ProMarkers to make a bright and summery wreath.

I added some tiny stars to the centers of the yellow flowers and tied a ribbon bow around the wreath.  ( the ribbon in this photo is tied but not yet trimmed).

 

The tiny stars are from the winter Seasonal Sparkle Stickers from Creative Charms and they fit the flower centers nicely to add some sparkle (these stickers are on a "buy one get one free" special right now).

I used a blue A2 card base (with the fold at the top) and added some strips of cardstock for my simple card.   The white cardstock was cut at three inches and punched on both sides with the Martha Stewart Double Loops edge punch.  The green and yellow strips were cut to fit the center and the sentiment is from the Summer Wreath stamp set.

The wreath is raised with a few foam squares to float above the sentiment strip.

Summer sun and blue skies - this card makes you think of a perfect summer day!

After a few very hectic days I have settled in for a nice visit with my sister and brother-in-law in Wisconsin before I head to Chicago on Sunday for CHA.  My flights went smoothly on Thursday and I am happy to finally catch up on some sleep!
