Barn Quilts (a little diversion)
I am in Wisconsin for one more day and then on Monday I will fly back to Boston. Saturday I worked on a big project here at the B & B. It was hot and muggy and I didn't even go outside! On Friday, we did have a chance to get out and about a bit and I saw some of these interesting barn quilts.
The Green Country Barn Quilt trail includes at least 100 sites. I wonder how long it would take to go to see them all? We saw several in our travels and I think it would be great for my sister and brother-in-law to have one on their barn. It would be a lot of fun to create the quilt and paint it.
The mission of the barn quilt project as found on their website is "to promote and celebrate the visual arts through the combination of the many unique barns in our county that have played an important role in our economy through the generations and the warmth, beauty and artistic expression of quilts"
You can find out more about the barn quilts when you visit the website by clicking HERE.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend - I have lots more to share from CHA and I hope to be able to edit and post some more photos for Monday.

Wow, I learned something new today! That is so cool. There is a barn down the road from us (we live in Wisconsin) and I had no idea what was on their barn and now I know! Thank you for that very interesting tidbit!
ReplyDeleteDid you enjoy CHA? I have to say, I went on Friday to the consumer portion of it and was very disappointed and do not intend to go back next year, that's if they even have a show next year. It wasn't really very busy. There were about 1/8th of the exhibitors compared to last year's show and the big names weren't there. (ProvoCraft, PTI etc.)
That is really interesting!!! I've never seen anything like that. Some of them are so detailed I would have thought the quilts were photoshopped on if you had not have told us about it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome! I enjoy your blog because you have a wide range of subjects you blog about, not just crafting and I believe in being a well-rounded person! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to be a quilter, but have not made one in quite awhile. I do not think I was ever as good as what I saw at quilt fairs, but I tried. I have a lovely embroidery machine and it is stored under my scrapbook table. I really love scrapcarding. That is what, I think I am good at. However, I hope to resume my sewing someday soon. I do love sewing.

Diane, I have never heard of quilt barns. Thank you for the tour. Maybe someday I'll get out that way and see them in person. They are certainly beautiful. I just love the variety of your blog.
ReplyDeleteLiving out in the west coast, I had never heard about the quilt barns! Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures. Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great pictures. Several years ago I went to Ohio to visit and it was like this all the way up from Cin. to Columbus.
I was amazed and they were wondeful. Also homes had brown stars posted on their homes. Thanks for sharing this. My mom use to be able to make quilts but can no longer do them. Looking forward to seeing things that you learned in Chicago.
A barn quilt tour sounds like something I would love to do.
ReplyDeleteQuilts and barns, two of my favorite things. I have heard about the quilt barns but would love to see them in person.
