Adding a touch of blue...

I had an appointment on Wednesday and I was out for several hours - I came home to find so many comments (and I read them all!).  Thank you for the many kind and flattering words.  It is very nice to hear that people enjoy what you do and find it helpful.  I will try to post answers to some of the most common questions from the comments as soon as possible.

The celebration continues today, but first, a bit of enabling...  You may have heard the buzz around the message boards and blogs.  Michael's is offering one super deal of the day each day this week and the deal for Thursday (the 7th) is the Yudu silk screening machine for $99.  I have been waiting and hoping for this machine to be added to the Cricut Rewards program for months - it appeared briefly last fall but then it was gone before I could place an order.  I have been hoarding my "bajillion" points thinking it would be back, however, at this price, I think I'll be making a trip up the road tomorrow morning!  I hope they actually have it at "my" store.

Of course, this complicates the craftroom redo - the Yudu machine is huge!  I think it will be better to keep the new machine in the laundry room so I will have a sink handy...we'll see...the laundry room needs some reorganizing too!

Today I have added three more items (well, actually four items) to the boxes.  They all are blue (or mostly blue).  (I can get a little too literal at times!)

I love glitter but it can be messy to use.  I found these great rub-ons from K and Company a while ago.  They are super easy to use - you put the glue "sticker" on your card or project - peel off the protective layer and then add glitter - it sticks on the glue but not on the paper so your word or shape is neatly glittered.  I must have found these for a good price because I bought a LOT of them - so I am adding one of these baby boy sets to each of the boxes.

The quest for organization is something everyone can relate to - so I also found three of these handy (and blue) photo holders and organizers to add to the boxes.  They expand to hold lots of photos and have dividers so you can keep the photos for your projects and pages together and readily available.  They also work for holding spare parts - die cuts that you have assembled but haven't used yet.

In February, I found a great offer for the "Tipsy" and wrote about it HERE.  The Tipsy is a wonderful little helper for anyone who has trouble holding a stylus for extended periods of time.

It works like an extension of your finger - you just wrap it around your finger and use it to tap on the screen of the Gypsy or the Imagine (or other small devices that use a stylus - games, phones, etc.). When I wrote about it last time there was a bit of a rush with people taking up the very generous offer for a free tipsy (with a shipping and handling fee of $3.99).  Denise, the owner of the company, got in touch with me and offered to send some more Tipsys.  I asked for three - one for each box.  Many thanks to Denise for these nice gifts - she went above and beyond and also sent a matching lanyard for each Tipsy.

I have been using my pink tipsy for a while now and I love it - the flexible material is very lightweight and my hand does not cramp up or get tired the way it used to.  The lanyard is a nice addition if you are prone to putting things down and losing track of their whereabouts.  If you aren't feeling lucky (you don't think your name will come up in the random draw for one of these boxes) you can go to THIS PAGE on the Tipsy site to see the information on how to get a free Tipsy (shipping and handling fee does apply).  You'll also find the information about the lanyards on that page.  The regular price for the Tipsy is $7 and the price of the lanyard is $4.98.

Thanks again to Denise for the gift of the Tipsys with their lanyards.  The boxes are starting to fill up a bit more...

So far, all three boxes are identical - that will change tomorrow when they each will gain a "separate but equal" packet of goodies!

The same procedure for entering applies today - I'll paste it in here for your convenience.

So - what do you need to do to take part in this celebration?  As always it's simple - just leave a comment.  But not just any comment - each day I'll ask you to answer a question (just to keep things interesting!).

You don't have to be a blog follower or a subscriber to play along, but if you are, you can leave another comment and have a second chance each day as a way for me to thank you for your support.  If you are a Facebook user you can also "like" the Capadia Designs page HERE and leave another comment telling me that you are a Facebook fan.  I started the Facebook page at the request of some readers who wanted to keep up with my blog on Facebook and I am planning to start using the page in some new ways (more about that later).

You can leave comments everyday so you will have multiple chances to be one of the three winners.  Please don't leave more than 3 on one day (1 comment, 2 follower or subscriber, 3 Facebook fan).  When you leave a comment be sure that you don't have the box checked to be notified of follow up comments so you don't get tons of emails clogging up your in box.  Please be sure to leave some way for me to contact you if you are one of the lucky three - you can leave your email address and use (at) and (dot) to help avoid spam.

I was surprised to find out that many of you had no idea that I had a Facebook page for Capadia Designs.  I am not a big Facebook user but I do enjoy keeping up with my crafty friends there.  I just changed the profile image to this pansy - you make recognize this pansy from the header of my blog.  I created the digital banner and turned this photograph into a digital "sticker" that I can use for many more projects - and the revamp of my blog page.  Once again - it is in my favorite shades of blue and purple..

The beautiful photo at the top of this post was taken by my husband last summer when we visited the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina - more wonderful shades of blue early in the morning.

Here is Today's question - you may have already guessed it.  What is your favorite color and why?  Do you have an early childhood memory that is infused with a certain color?  Do you find a certain color energizes or calms you?  Color is fascinating to me and I am curious to see what some of you have to say about the colors that make you happy.

  1. My favorite color is purple. I think I changed my favorite color as I got older, and only because my husband's favorite color is purple. It just reminds me of love, compassion, happiness and I love dressing my girls in the color purple. Thanks for the chance to win.

  9. What did we do before Facebook? It is a great way to keep up, but I have found that I must limit the amount of time I spend on it and I don't always get to read everyones updates. I think that FB needs to allow you to change the screen to your favorite color too! Thank you for the opportunity to win. donnafaglieatgmaildotcom

  11. Good question. But first, I didn't know you had a Facebook page either. I am now a fan though. I can follow you both places.
I like the color red. I don't know why-I just do. I love fall colors- the soft warm golds, reds and oranges. They make me feel safe and warm.
I have an aunt, 85 years young, who's favorite color is purple. I can't help but think of her every time I see purple. Tammy

  12. Favorite color??? I really can't say. Love to wear white tops and black sometimes. Love green cause I like to look at the plants (just look because I don't have a green thumb)and blue cause I like the ocean (living on an island might have to do with it). Yellow because is a happy, bright color. I'll have to say it all depends on my mood.
    Thanks for the giveaways.

  17. Hey Diane,
My favorite color is lime green. I have always liked the way it makes me feel happy. When I was a girl I had an antique bed that my dad painted lime green and I had a spread that was lime, yellow and orange. I never got tired of the colors or the combo.

  18. Well this was an easy question. Pink. I like it from the softest to brightest shades there are. I think it is unmistakenly feminine and brings cheer where ever it is placed.

  19. I guess, at the moment, my favorite color is robin's egg blue. To me it is Spring and calming. Love it. I used to have a decorating business and found that my favorite color changed frequently. Now as I am getting older, I am trying to settle into a favorite and quit changing all the time. Your photo from the Biltmore is fabulous. Thanks for sharing. patnbobcuddy at gmail dot com

  31. I love sage green! In our bedroom, in my clothes, and on my scrapbook pages. It is so calming, however, my favorite base color to scrap with is kraft brown. (Is that a color? You know what I mean though}. It makes a great combination with all other colors. Throughout my life, my favorite color has changed. When I was a teen, it was blue. When I got married it was purple. In the early years of my marriage it was forest green. In these later years, it's been shades of brown and sage green.

  33. Purple is my favorite color - When I was born, the youngest of seven, I didn't have a room. My crib was in the hallway, but in front of a window. My mother handmade purple balloon curtains for that window, and I'm fairly certain that's where my love of purple comes from.

Thanks for this opportunity, Diane, best to you!

  34. my favorite color is green not just any green the green that you see on the mountains in very early spring. It's a yellowish/greenish and I would love to have my room that color.

  35. My favorite color is yellow. How can anyone not be happy when yellow is around? It reminds me of the sun which I adore. My mom had 4 girls and we were each assigned a primary color. Our color was used for glasses, balls, flip flops, towels, etc. No problem knowing what item belonged to which girl. If it was yellow, it was mine! Blue is a calming color to me. We love to travel and the blue tropical seas are so peaceful!!

  39. I love all shades of purple, green, and blue. I'm so drawn to cool colors... I have no idea why. I'm not a hyper person, so the idea of them being "calming" doesn't really answer it for me. The rooms in my house are all some shade of robin's egg blue, apple green, and sky blue. (It looks a little like an Easter egg house!!)

  45. It is interesting that you ask about favorite colors. I recently did a post on whether you can call something your favorite color if you never use it. My favorite color is purple (it has been since I was a child) but I almost never use it when I'm doing papercrafting. I use more kraft than anything else. So, is it still my favorite color? Then, after asking the question I ended up doing three or four cards in shades of purple.

My favorite color is pink - always been. I guess I am a girlie girl - who like lace and frills and pink makes me smile and happy. Sometimes it depends on my mood or what we are talking about...like a color for a room or a piece of clothing. I don't feel as though I have a favorite anymore, like when i was a kid. I think I appreciate all colors, just in different ways.

Since I admired her in so many ways, I immediately adopted green as my favorite, too. And that choice has certainly worked out for me even though I have since discovered that my "best" colors are autumn hues, I manage to have something green on every day. PS -- we're still best friends.

My desk at work...pictures of my children whom I love dearly a few of my wedding and then tons of pictures of tropical destination to some of which I have been and others that I would like to go... and So I guess purple falls in there because it's just a hue off from blue. 120. Pink, Pink, Pink ~ I love the color pink. I am mostly a pastel kind of girl. I am such a tomboy, I don't know how or why pink has become my favorite color but it has.

Pastels to me are calming. they are soft and say, "sit back and relax, tomorrow is another day".

I have read about these tipsy's before and have them on my list for when I get my gypsy. =)

  122. Hi Diane ... Pink is my favorite color, the shade of pink that lights my granddaughter's baby face just as she awakens fresh from a nap with a smile. Variegated pink I remember from the roses given to me when my (now 25-year old) daughter was born. Pink that brings out my own healthy glow when I wear my favorite sweater (as I am now).

    Thank you for asking.

My favorite color is BLUE because it is so calming...I had lots of baby blankets but the one I loved and cherished the most was handed down from my uncle and it is blue :) I still have it tucked away in a safe corner of my closet. When we painted my sons room we found the perfect color of blue called "shallow pond" and with a darker blue trim it just POPS!!! My son loves his blue room so I think I have passes my favorite color on to him :)

  130. My favorite color is such a hard question to answer. Purple tops the list but then I think of Fushia along with Turquoise and I'm torn. They are strong bright colors that just feel good. I love color and look for any chance to use it. I think of things in color~ Our family calendar is coded; the different manuf plants at work are coded. Color is why paper-crafts and sewing are so fun; I get to work with many different colors & patterns.

My mother's favorite color was lilac - is it genetic? I painted my bathroom lilac because it makes me happy and the room seems brighter somehow. Love to use these colors in my papercrafting, too.
