Paper Roses (and fabulous dresses....)

One of the most talked about displays at CHA was the DCWV booth with the amazing paper dresses, party displays and the fabulous roses the staff members wore on their aprons.

Erin Madsen did a video showing the method for assembling the roses - you can see the video on the DCWV YouTube channel HERE.  There is a PDF template to cut for the roses in Erin's blog post HERE but I thought this was a perfect opportunity to make use of the Cricut to save all of that hand cutting.

I have created a Design Studio file and you can see my "test roses" at the top of this post.  I want to "tweak" the file a bit and make some more samples before I post it - I have some variations in mind...

I have some photos of the amazing dress display to share - I posted some photos while I was at CHA but I have edited some more of the images to give you a better idea of the details that went into the designs.  The dresses were started in October and finished just as the show opened.  I hope you enjoy the eye candy!

Here is the main "runway" with the elaborate gowns.

The "leaf" dress had an amazing train.

The glitter edges and the woven bodice were incredible.  I can't imagine how long it took to add these details.

The dress design was short in front with an elaborate train.

The "leaves" were all cut and detailed with glitter with a few pink roses sprinkled here and there.

Here is one more view of the back of the dress.  Absolutely incredible!

The center dress on the runway had these beautiful "ruffles" and layers.

The front and the back were equally beautiful.

These flowers are a different style than the roses - I am trying to make a file for these as well.

The dress at the front of the runway used the Natural stack - one of my favorite "masculine" stacks (I used it for the Father's Day word book HERE).

There were hundreds of fan pleated pieces that made up the dress which ended in a short train.

 Simply beautiful...

 There were several short dresses - this pink one was so soft and delicate.

The detail in each design was lovely - look at the tiny pearl "buttons" here.

 The stylish pleated skirt on this dress was very flirty and fun.

 This "flapper" dress included a string of pearls and a boa!

The butterfly dress was one of my favorites.

 The large flower at the waist was stunning and there were butterflies everywhere!

Just imagine how long it must have taken to fussy cut all of these butterflies.

The neckline and the flower necklace or headdress were perfect.

This dramatic red and black dress was made from the "Immortal Love" stack.

A few carefully placed paper roses accented the skirt.

These enormous blossoms were also in the "Immortal Love" area.

This table setting also used the large roses in a centerpiece.

Even more paper roses and some cute card ideas...

Paper flowers were everywhere at CHA.  I have been inspired to come up with some files to make various styles of dimensional flowers.  There are so many ways to create flowers and I know it will be fun to devise my own twist on this trend!
