Some Digital Fun with new content...

I just got some new digital content for my StoryBook Creator Plus 3.0 software and I couldn't resist taking a bit of time to try a few things out.  I enjoy trying different overlays and effects and combining the various elements in new ways.  I will use some of the things I created for cards by resizing and printing them.  (These are all low resolution screen shots just to show you what I did and to give you an idea of some of the possibilities available to you with digital designs).

For the first page I did I used a beautiful red paper for the background.

Then I added an overlay with lots of snowflakes.

A few bird "stickers" were added next.

Finally I added some word art that seemed appropriate.  I grouped all of the items and resized the page to 3 inches square and added a postage stamp frame for the image at the top of this post.

Then I made a piece of custom background paper base on a the snowflake I designed with the Reminisce Accents cartridge.

This was my original design and I used the magic wand to trace around it and cut the image into two pieces.

This line drawing effect was left when I hid the traced area that I had cut around digitally.  I will probably use this to create my own overlay.

I added a gradient of color to the background.

Then I chose a snowflake "sticker" and adjusted it to neatly fill the center area.

I filled the snowflake with white - when you flood fill you lose all detail.  In this case that was my goal because I wanted the entire snowflake image to be white.

I added a snowy overlay and I can now use this "paper" for  a digital background.

The next thing I made was a snowman medallion.

I started with the scalloped circle tag from the Winter Delight Embellishments.

I added a circle, centered it in the scalloped design and filled it with red paper.

Then I added a snowman and the "Let it Snow" phrase which I filled in white.

I also tried the design with just a bigger snowman in the center.

I added some coordinating background paper to complete the image.

Here is one more of my "doodles."  I used two different overlays, some word art and a metallic snowflake for this one.

In this closer view you can see the dimension on the "metal" snowflake.  I added the little water drop to the starry tail of the "W" in "Winter" for a tiny bit more sparkle.

If you have any questions about the Creative Memories StoryBook Creator Plus 3.0 software, please leave a comment or email me.  There is a new program available (at last!) for Mac computers called sbcStudio.  I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I am sure it will be great.  The StoryBook program is one of my favorite crafting tools!

I'll be back to more Cricut projects tomorrow - I have some new files to test cut (and they aren't snowflakes this time!).  I hope you have a great weekend.  We will be doing more projects around the house to get ready for the holidays.

  1. Thank you Diane! Once again not only do you keep us motivated, but you also do an absolutely wonderful job teaching us in detail how things are done. There are so many things you have done that I would love to try and one of these days I am going to attempt your many projects. I have DS and have not worked with it as much as I should...you motivate me not to be a wimp! Thank you for all you do. I'm sure there are times that you wonder, why do I do this? Please know there are many that benefit from your designs, your details. From the bottom of my heart I say "THANK YOU"!

  2. I always delight to see what you have designed. I am slowly learning how to do some thinga on the computer but have not tried digital projects yet. I do have DS and play just a bit with it. Maybe soon I will take a leap of faith and try something digital. You inspire me so. (I have so been loveing your snowflakes). I love anything with birds on it so I must say the first project here is my favorite although I like snowment too.

  4. Love the snowflake overlay. I haven't done anything digitally yet. Maybe that will be something I try in the new year.
