Winter Snowfall Card
I had a lot of different ideas about the layout I needed to make for the Creative Memories Cricut Cruise contest. One of the requirements was that we use only Creative Memories products. There are so many beautiful papers that it was difficult to choose. I ordered some of the newer sets to be sure I would have lots of options. One of my favorites is the Reminisce Winter 12 x 12 Additions.
The Creative Memories Additions sets have 4 double sided 12 x 12 pages, 8 doubled-sided photo mats and two sheets of coordinating stickers.
Here are the two sides of the darker blue paper - the swirling snowflakes are very pretty and the damask is so elegant.
Here are the two sides of the teal green paper. You know I just love snowflakes and these are so beautiful - the color is wonderful too. You can use the two more decorative sides for a gorgeous double page spread.
In the end, I did not use this collection for my contest page. I couldn't resist using a bit of it to make a card after I submitted my page today.
I particularly liked the horse drawn sleigh image (second from the bottom on the left). It has a spiky border and I thought I might try to find a Cricut shape to use to mat it . Then I remembered that I have the "pinking circle" Nestabilities and and I decided to try those for a quick and easy cut.
I chose two sizes of the pinking circles and cut the smaller one from pale teal glitter cardstock from the DCWV Holiday glitter mat stack from 2009. The fit isn't exact but the cut works well with the sticker shape.
I cut the larger circle from both my card front and a layer of the Reminisce Winter teal snowflake mat. Here you can see all of the pieces I ended up with.
I adhered the mat layer to the card front, carefully lining up the spikes. The card base is A2 in size and I used some Bazzill cardstock that is nearly a perfect match for this paper.
Then I fit the cut circle in position and adhered it to the inside of the card through the opening.
I had added an ivory layer inside the card so the sentiment would show up clearly and there would be room to add a handwritten note.
I used Creative Memories foam squares to pop the sticker on the glitter cardstock above the mat cutout.
Here is a side view showing the layers on the inside of the card.
I added one of the clear stickers for the sentiment.
I also used one of the clear stickers on the front. It blends in to the paper print perfectly.
I took a photo of the matted sticker and bought it into the StoryBook Creator Plus 3.0 program. Then I turned it into a digital sticker that I can use with my digital version of the paper.
The sticker image is also in the digital set so now I have both a plain and a matted image to use. It is fun to create extra embellishments to go along with the digital packages.
The card looked pretty but it needed a little something to make it sparkle. I added just five tiny gem stickers in the centers of the snowflakes..
This is a simple card with a bit of a twist. You can make similar cards with a Cricut cut shape in the front. I'll try to post one soon.
My Creative Memories Cricut Cruise contest layout has been submitted. The contest starts next week on Facebook. I hope that lots and lots of people will "like" my layout - the layout with the most "likes" wins that cruise!

Clare - I used a the "pinking circle" nestabilities in two sizes for the spiky cut. They work really well with this sticker.
There is a cut on Graphically Speaking that might work - I haven't tried it yet (top left on the shift of the icon blackout feature).

This is another gorgeous card! Love it. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat card. I had a piece of leftover cardstock that was big enough for a card but had a hole already cut in it. This has given me a great idea for using it now!
