Laurel Punch Around the Page - Card #1
This is the first card I made with the Martha Stewart Laurel Punch Around the Page set. As I mentioned yesterday, there is a clear stamp set from Martha Stewart which also features a laurel motif and I used it for the sentiment on this card.
Here is a close view of the image I used. The laurel wreath has an opening where you can insert various symbols or sentiments and I chose the "thank you" sentiment for this card. (everyone can use thank you cards!).
I made a 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch square and punched all of the edges as I showed in yesterday's post. Then I stamped the image on the punched cardstock with Versamark ink. I used Zing embossing powder in metallic gold. In the image above you can see the before and after - there is a wonderful transformation as the dull gold powder turns glossy and shimmery.
I used a "helper" piece of cardstock to keep my fingers from getting burnt while embossing the small medallion. It is just a long scrap that I adhered to the back of the punched cardstock square.
I chose a deep burgundy card base and added a 5 1/4 x 4 inch mat in the same ivory cardstock as the medallion. The top layer is metallic gold and is from the Gold-Silver Elegant 24 sheet paper stack from Martha Stewart. I was careful to cut this layer so the thin gold design would be symmetrical from side to side on the card.
The medallion is raised up slightly with foam squares so it floats above the card top.
This card is very simple but very elegant and it really shows off the lovely edges created by the punches.

ReplyDeleteI've seen these punch sets but thought they were too complicated to use. Thanks to your tutorial, it does not seem nearly as intimidating! I have a bunch of her halloween punches that I used on Halloween cards. My favorite is the Drippy Goo, sooo cool!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and check it every day. You make everything look so easy!
God Bless.
