Elegant Notecard Border created with Reminisce Accents

The Reminisce Accents cartridge has many interesting borders.  With Design Studio or the Gypsy, these can be combined, flipped and welded to create even more border designs. You can size these to fit a card perfectly.

I used this image to create a new border for an A2 card.  I welded two sections together and then copied and pasted the resulting image and flipped it 180 degrees and aligned the edges to create a new design.

I decided to create a more solid center strip in the border so I used "hide selected contour" to eliminate the small triangles on all of the sections.  In order to hide contour on the copied and pasted sections you need to close and reopen the file.

To preview the design in color, you need to "uncheck" weld on the design sections.  I placed a rectangle that is 5.5 inches x 4.25 inches on another mat to see how the design would look on a card front.  This is just for previewing purposes and will not be cut.

You need to be sure that weld is checked for all sections before you cut the design.  When weld is checked there will be no color in the preview and you will see just the dark cutting line.

There are so many variations possible with the images on Reminisce Accents and also many of the other cartridges with borders.  I made a really cute one with Winter Frolic that I will share soon...

For my test cut I use some blue Core'dinations cardstock and set the multi cut option to two times to insure that the small areas would cut cleanly.  As you can see - it cut beautifully.

I adhered the border to a plain white card base.  It looks pretty just like this but I decided to "dress it up" a little!

I added some borders with silver "peel-offs" - these are a quick and easy way to add some sparkle and detail.

For more sparkle I added some gradient gem stickers in three sizes with a pattern of large-medium-large-large-medium-large at the intersections of the arches and small stickers in the spots between the other stickers.

This design works either horizontally...

...or vertically.  You could use this as a note card or add a sentiment to suit the occasion.  I think this type of card would be lovely for dinner party invitations.
Reminisce Accents is one of the two cartridges available exclusively through Creative Memories (the other is Cheerful Seasons).  I am a Creative Memories consultant and if you are interested in purchasing either of these cartridges and do not already have a consultant, I would be happy to help you.  Here is a LINK to the Cricut cartridge page on my Creative Memories personal website.

  3. Thanks, Diane. This is a beautiful design. I'm a CM consultant too and ordered both cartridges right away. Can't wait to fool around with the shapes to see what I can come up with.

    Thanks for sharing,

  7. Hi Christine,

I see that you are in the UK - I believe you have encountered the "date problem." In the US dates are written month-day-year and in the UK and other parts of the world the format is day-month-year (which makes more sense really!). This only affects files with a date later in the month than the 12th since earlier dates will work either way.

I used to change my files in a hex edit program but that caused a problem on my computer. The simple way for you to handle this is to go to the Control Panel - Clock, Language and Region - Regional and Language Options and change from English(United States) to English(United Kingdom). The file should then open properly.

Be sure to change the setting back to English (United Kingdom) after you are done so that your other programs will work correctly.

Please let me know if this solves your problem.

    Diane
