Patriot's Day ... digitally
Today was Patriot's Day which is a holiday here (and also in Maine). The cannons are fired early in the morning as re-enactments of the Battles of Lexington and Concord take place. It was a beautiful day for a parade - sunny and cool but a bit windy. A group from our neighborhood walked into town to watch the parade and I took a few photos. After the parade it is time to check out the Boston Marathon - either in person on on TV. All in all, it is a busy day for people in Massachusetts!
Tonight, I decided to put together a digital layout. I enjoy both paper and digital scrapping and do a fair bit of both. Digital is enjoyable because you can put together a layout very quickly with just your computer (no mess) and you never run out of your favorite paper!
Here you can see the both pages as a full layout. Another thing I like about digital is that it is easy to change your mind and alter the layout or to do several versions of a design. I am curious to know if you like the layout better with the title on the right side (above) or the left side (below).
I used my Creative Memories StoryBook Creator Plus 3.0 software to create the layout. The background paper is from the Everyday Digital Kit which came with the original version of the software a few years ago. The "Primary" Digital Power Palette is the current kit that is available in primary colors and is somewhat similar to the Everyday Kit.
I also used the Independence Graphic Set and the Independence Alphabet from Lettering Delights (you can click the names to go to the pages for these sets). The Creative Memories software allows you to use digital content from CM and other digital sources so I mix and match all of the time. Lettering Delights is still having Dollar Days so you may want to check out all that they have to offer if you are a digital scrapper (or want to get started with digital). Dollar Days will be ending April 27th.
The schools are on Spring Break all week here - I hope the weather stays nice for the vacation. I should be able to get back to a more normal schedule tomorrow. I need to catch up on email and work on a few "big" projects I have in the works...
I am a Creative Memories consultant so if you have any questions about this program or the digital content available (and you don't have a consultant already) please feel free to contact me for more information or help with the program. There are a lot of resources available online through CM and I may do some online classes if there is enough interest.

Great LO Diane, I like the digital elements you used. It's like it was made for your pics!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing!
Lisa Sturgill :)
I like the Title on the left page. Your layout is very nice.
ReplyDeleteLooked like a wonderful day! I like the design on the left the best. Thanks for sharing. Sheila Courts
ReplyDeleteVery nice layout. TFS
ReplyDeleteWhichever side the title is on - this is a gorgeous 2-page LO!!!!! For some reason I like the title on the left (2nd pic) - I think it's because your eye goes around the title encompassing both pages. I don't know, I just like it! TFS! Got to try the digital scrapbooking!

HI Diane, I love your layout, I started with digital scrapbooking and quickly went to traditional scrapbooking. But like you I like both. The title in my opinion looks better on the left.
ReplyDeleteI love this LO! I like the title better on the left--I think the visual triangle works better that way--although it's in both LOs!
ReplyDeleteDiane this is absolutely beautiful. I am always in awe of your talent. TFS, Mary M
ReplyDeleteGreat LO Diane! I've done a bit digitally, but it almost takes me longer to do that than to put together a paper page. Oh, and I'm a title on the left page type of person.
ReplyDeleteI like the title on the left page- you captured some GREAT pics this year. I had forgotten about Patriot Day- it has been a while since I was in New England at this time of year. Thanks for the reminder. Your pages look AMAZING
ReplyDeleteI love your layout. I think I like the title on the Left side. Im new to digital scrapping and im loving it. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful layout. I really like it on the left. Seems to flow better. Thanks for all you have taught me. Now I want to learn digital.
ReplyDeleteLove the layout. I think I prefer the title on the right side of the layout. I am curious as to what you do with your digital layouts once you have made them. Do you create a digital scrapbook somehow and burn it to cd? Do you print out the pages?
ReplyDeleteYour layout is gorgeous! Love, love, love it!!
ReplyDeleteI have started to use my StoryBook Creator software a little more, but would love some resources on the different things you can do in it. I can handle the basics, but would LOVE to learn more! Any direction? (I purchased the original Storybook when I was still a consultant and the upgrade from my former upline. She, however, doesn't use the newer version much and only uses the premade layouts - which are great for a lot of my pages, but not all of them!)
Thank you so much for sharing!!
I like the title on the left. It drew my eye into the page. What a happy layout!
ReplyDeleteYou LO is beautiful. So bright and colorful. I'm going to have to be in the minority and say I like the title on the right. When I'm reading a newspaper my eyes go to the right at first. Anyway it's done your pages are perfect.
ReplyDeleteJust starting using the Storybook and still learning digi....but I like the title on the left.
ReplyDeleteGreat LO! I like your title on the left...maybe because I generally put them there...personal thing I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks for always sharing your stuff, I am a long time follower of yours...just recently started commenting though.
I like the title on the left. It looks like it was a great day!
ReplyDeleteDiane, Great pics and layout. I like the title on the right just for a different look, not so traditional, we all gravitate to the left with our titles so I think occasionally tweaking things is a good practice.
ReplyDeleteA relly great layout. I haven't tried digital as of yet. I consider my self a bit computer challenged. I can't decide which page I like the title on best. They are both great. But then I am a libra and indicision is one of our traits.
ReplyDeleteGreat layout. Title definitely on the left.
ReplyDeleteI would love to do an online class with Creative Memories. I am not using my CM to its full potential.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. You are my favorite.

I like the title on the left, I found when people look through my scrapbooks they tend to look at the title page first and skip the page on the right. We are taught to read left to right so it is instinct. I love the layout by the way.
ReplyDeletebeautiful LO but I like the title on the left, I guess because we read from left to right and expect the title to be at the beginning.
