Not quite ready for Fall!

I love the fall - the crisp air, sunny days and chilly evenings and the changing leaves. I have been working on some fall projects that I will be sharing soon.

However, I am not quite ready to let go of summer and the bright and happy colors! So today I have a bright and cheery card to share - super simple and another exercise in using up a bit of the thousands of sheets of paper in my studio!

I did not buy this stack last Spring - I was trying to exercise some paper restraint (OK, I admit that would never work for me long term!). Late this summer I found the stack in the clearance area at Joann's for $8.97 and, since I get a 10% VIP discount at Joann's through my quilt guild, it "followed me home."

The papers are so bright and cheerful - they just make me smile!

I was not sure about the last section with the abstract designs but I did end up using some of them for a card I designed recently with the "From My Kitchen" cartridge (here is a LINK to that post).

Of course, there are always a few sheets like this - cute but a bit tricky to work with. I decided to take apart the stripes and fussy cut pieces for cards.

Here you can see how I chose to divide the stripes - keeping two glitter borders on some and none on others. This photo was taken after I had fussy cut my card pieces from the bottom strip of flowers.

Quick and simple - I cut the bright pink flower strip at a logical place between the flowers to get a strip 2 1/2 by 5 inches. Then I cut a piece of white cardstock at 2 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches to mat the bright flowers ( I tried inking the edges of the white cardstock with blue ink but it did not look "crisp" enough so I cut another piece).

The ribbon is not a "cheater" ribbon - it is actually tied around the top of the card. You can add a few glue dots to insure that it stays in position.

The finishing touch was a little stamped greeting using blue ink that was a close match for the ribbon.

I hope I am encouraging you to pull out some of your stacks of paper and find some ways to use them up! It is fun to consider all of the possibilities - and to make use of what you have already!

We have postponed the Full Page Designs class scheduled for tomorrow - there are openings available in the new "Creating with Shapes" class and the Basic Cards class on Thursday - check the Let me Show you How to Do that blog for details about registering for class.
