Video - "Hide Selected Contour"
It has been quite a while since I posted a video. There just aren't enough hours in the day and I have had a lot going on! Lately, I seem to be getting lots of questions about the use of the "hide selected contour" option in the Design Studio software so I made a quick video to explain how to use this design tool.
If you are using a cartridge that does not separate the layer options by color, "hide selected contour" can help you save a lot of paper and make your cutting very efficient. In this video, I explain how you can separate your layers to cut each item from the proper color by using "hide selected contour."
This is the basic information on using "hide selected contour." If you are a regular reader of my blog you know that there are many ways to use this feature and there are also a few "tricks" to get the function to work in various situations. I will be adding a few more videos to explain these quirks. (I will try to get those done without another long time gap!).
Now I have to go read all about today's big reveal of the new Gypsy device - I am very interested to find out more about it. You can check it out HERE. Let me know what you think.....

Diane, Just checked out the link to the Gypsie and all I can say is Oh My Gosh! There is a GROUP feature! Gonna want the Gypsie just for that!
ReplyDeleteI was a little worried that my over forty eyes would not be able to read the screen, but it sure looks big enough to me. Wish there was a price listed, and release date for sale! Thanks for the link!

OMG! I can't believe they have included the group feature on the Gypsy but we can't get it in DS!!! I have seen suggested retail price of $400. Gulp!

Thanks for the video...that made it just look too easy. Now a dumber questions. Do you just tape small piece of various color paper down in the appropriate areas before you cut. Scotch tape?
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane. You certainly took the mystery out of cutting all those fiddly bits in different colors! It was, as always, a great video.
ReplyDeletethe gypsy looks like it's going to be amazing. Haven't seen a price tag but I expect it'll be "up there".

Again, thank you for the great video. As for the Gypsy..think I'll wait and see. They are so slow on support issues that I am leary of anything first generation from Cricut. Looks interesting and fun though....Thanks again! Pam F
ReplyDeleteHi Jeane,
ReplyDeleteYou just need to place the piece of paper in the correct area of the mat - as long as your mat is reasonably sticky there is no need to add any extra tape.
If you look at my posts about Disney Princesses (check the labels in the side column or copy and paste this link http://capadiadesigns.blogspot.com/search/label/Disney%20Princesses) you can see photos of the actual mats with pieces as small as 1 x 1 inches - I have never had any trouble with cutting these.
I hope that helps,
Diane
Great video Diane.
ReplyDeleteI feel like you just opened my eyes...I just did not understand how easy it was to paper piece this stuff. Now I get it! Hide selected contour video was really helpful to me. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this video, I've learned a lot in less than 5 minutes!

Hello Diane!
ReplyDeleteI took a hiatus from my cricut for a while as I was getting frustrated...however, this video was very very helpful and has inspired me to get back at it!!! If I was only at home and not at work right now! Thanks so much for your hard work and dedication to us!
Vicki
That was awsome!!!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.........great video. I now know what to do when cutting the multi layered shapes. I have kind of backed off of buying any of the layered shaped carts.
ReplyDeleteThe gypsy looks good.........but the price just scares me. I'll wait....I am patient.........the price will come down.
Debbie
