A Great Find!

I am back in New Jersey - we drove down today so we could be here for our son's Chorale and Orchestra Concert at his college tomorrow afternoon - two more weeks and he will be finished his sophomore year! I will be home again by Sunday and will catch up with emails and comments then but today I just wanted to share a great find from the rummage sale at a local church.

I love all sorts of vintage items and (of course) I have a weakness for paper products. I found this great box of cards with lots of interesting designs. On the end of the box it says "Deluxe Famous Everyday Assortment 21 Smart French Folders" and it has the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. On the back of each card is printed "A Sunshine Card," a series of numbers and "Made in USA." Remarkably, even though the box is a bit banged up, there are twenty one cards and envelopes still in the box!

The birthday card at the top of this group matches the design on the box.

Some have very "cute" illustrations.

Most of the cards have some glitter incorporated in the design.

The dishes on the left card and the trees on the right card are very sparkly!

Here are a few wedding cards and a cute baby card (with six babies!).

The last card on the right is a "manly" card in a box of pretty girly cards....

Here is a closer view of the top of the box.

So, I have two questions for you - I know the answer for one, but the other will take some research and I may not find the exact answer.

1. When were these cards made?
2. What did I pay for them?

  2. From what little searching I did, maybe they were from the '60's. There is a blogger 103bluepoolroad.blogspot.com/2009/02/vintage-charm.html, where she posted pictures of "Sunshine" cards she found at an antique store in Pasadena, CA. You may be interested in viewing those cards. They are also very pretty. My guess is $1.00.
Also, if you didn't see it the listing, someone is selling a "Sunshine" vintage card on ebay.

  3. Diane, I love the cards and I'm thinking also that you paid $1.00, but I do not have any idea where they might have been made.

  4. After doing some research,I think these were made at a Co called Sunshine Cards, Inc. It started in MA in 1925 and is now located in Agawam, MA. As to the date these particular cards were made, I would have to guess 1950's.
As for you cost, maybe $2.00?

    They are a great find!!!!\
