Positive and Negative - a quick design tip...
These cute swirly frames are from the Storybook cartridge. The outline is in the "accent" features category - here is a screen shot showing the keys to use
The background is in the "Acntblkot" feature (I think that means accent blackout!) and here is a screen shot of the keys to use for this design
You cut the blackout and the accent and these are the results
The pink cut is the full shape and an outline - here they are separated
When you take the frame from the pink cut and lay it on the red blackout it looks like this
You are left with the odd looking center piece from the pink cut - but don't toss it out...
Just cut another accent blackout in the red paper so you have these four pieces
Then layer them both and you have positive/negative versions of the design. These would be nice as journaling boxes on facing pages in a scrapbook.
There are many other designs that will work this way - just take a look at some of them and give it a try!
I am away from home for a few days but I will try to continue my daily posts (as long as I can get internet access). I have been working on a series of interesting medallion cuts that I'll start posting soon.
I just love how you use up ALL the scraps! Storybook is a great cart. Thanks Diane.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your suggestions. I catch myself saving every little piece of scraps that I have since reading all that you do with some of them. I figure that one day some of them might be just what I need!!
ReplyDeleteCuteness!! It looks like a music stand, wonderful for those of us who have musicians in our family. Thank you for sharing, you are such a doll!
