Adjustable Scalloped Circle Variations
I have created scalloped circles using George but I realize that there are many people who read my blog who do not have the George cartridge. If you have an Expression and it came with the standard Plantin Schoolbook and Accent Essentials cartridges there is a scalloped shape on Accent Essentials but it is more whimsical and flower like - not the evenly shaped scallop that everyone seems to want for cards and other projects.
I made this file with the intent of also using it to do an updated tutorial on grouping but, since there have been several requests, I am posting the file now and the tutorial will follow soon.
This scalloped circle is very similar to the one on Mini Monograms (which is a cartridge with lots of useful features if you look at it creatively - more about that another day..). I made this as an adjustable file and also did a few variations. Here is the basic finished scalloped circle that this file will produce - it is a "16 bump" scallop
By doing the welds the "wrong way" I created a variation which gives you a frame, an inner scallop ring and an interesting center bit. This works wonderfully with aperture cards to trim the circle cut out.
Finally, I deleted the center base circle which gives you a wreath of circles and another center cutout.
Here is a sheet of cut outs I did for the test cut - you can resize this shape to suit your project by using the handles or by entering values into the Shape Properties box.
The shapes are on the first page of the file - just select and then copy and paste the one you want onto a new page or into a new file. The shape in the top left is the original Mini Monograms shape for comparison.
Once again, I am trying a different service for sharing this file - the link in the post will lead to a download page which has a clear place to leave a comment. This should help those of you who wish to comment on the blog but have had computer problems which prevent you from doing this. Remember, you can leave a comment as "anonymous" on my blog - just leave your name in the actual comment so I know you were here - Thanks!

I love the various circle shapes. I'm not sure what you mean when you said you did the welds the "wrong way" so I downloaded the file even though I don't have this particular cart - had to see what and how you did it!! I like the various looks/shapes. I want to try it with the carts I have.
ReplyDeleteYou do such nice work!!
